| Was Jesus ever sick? | | Really been wrestling through this question with a brother.
I know that Jesus subjected Himself to all the limitations of the human body and cam eto live in a fallen world, i know He subjected Himself to pain and suffering on the cross, but was He ever sick in His life? Would He have been a fit substitute and a pure lamb if he was? On the other hand would He be a fit High Priest to those who are sick if He Himself was never sick.
Did He in subjecting Himself to live as a man in our fallen world experience headaches and did he wake up some days with a cold? Thats what i want to know. Any thoughts gratefully received! _________________ George Platt

| Re: Was Jesus ever sick? | | Well, the Bible never says. On one hand, as you say, He subjected Himself to all the limitations of mankind. But did He? Not really. Jesus walked on water, Jesus appeared with Moses and Elijah, Jesus healed the sick... etc. Granted, the disciples did these miraculous things as well, but they did so thru the power of Christ. Jesus did it because He was God.
Anyway... why is there sickness? Sin. My personal opinion (and thats all it is) is that He did not experience illness because He was sinless. Even tho He was in human flesh He never sinned... and therefore, I believe He was never sick.
But I wont argue the point with anyone because there are good arguments on the other side, I'm sure.
In the end, because the Bible is silent on the matter... then it isnt important for us to know. These are the kind of arguments that really are not worthy of much time or attention. Questions about whether Adam had a belly button, etc etc... on the list of non-essentials, I think these types of things are at the bottom.
Not saying they arent interesting things to ponder, because they are. I'm just saying it's not worth a lot of time and effort, and certainly not something to get into an argument about with the brethren.

| Re: | | K-man. now wait just a minute here. if Jesus was fully human, He got sick from time to time, just like the rest of us. i don't think He was a pretend human, a stick figure, representation of a human. so, yes, He got sick. (Can't you just hear Mary, complaining to her neighbor about baby Jesus keeping her up all night with collic or some such. 'He's really a perfect baby, most of the time.')
now, i really like this Adam "belly button" issue you brought up. it was most definately an "inny", those "outty" things are gross.

I'm sure He did not... because His humanity was as the Word made Flesh.
I very much agree with Here4Him, that the Life, Health, Light and Resurrection which Jesus embodied as the Son of God and Son of Man, was pure and totally powerful.
This is the Word by which the whole universe was created, and by which it is held together even today, whose ministry was such that sick people touching Him were made well. He rebuked the fever of Peter's mother-in-law. He knew who He was from before He was weaned (Psalm 22:9, 10), and I can't imagine a pathogen being able to make Him ill.

| Re: | | Here's a related question: The Bible says that as a child, Jesus grew in stature and wisdom. So, what do we make of the transition between boyhood to manhood every human male goes through via adolesence? Did Jesus go through puberty complete with acne, nocturnal emission and his voice breaking along with the emotional changes associated? If he did not, then by the age of 30, he would have looked like a very unusual man. _________________ Benjamin Valentine

| Re: Was Jesus ever sick? | | Hi intrecssr83,
I would suggest you have asked an improper question, to which I wish to suggest this reply.
Why would He not have developed normally, and perfectly?
That is, He had not a fallen nature. Thus, those attributes of fallenness about which you enquire, could not have applied to Him.

Exactly the point I was trying to make! :-) 8-) _________________ Benjamin Valentine

LOL man it's good to see people have a sense of humor on this forum.
Do you guys think that Adam and Eve would be subject to sickness if they never sinned?
