If You Love Me
"If you love me, you will obey what I command, John 14:15 NIV. The world would have you believe that love is a feeling, some kind of ooey, gooey, I cant see straight feeling. Although nowhere in the bible will you find such a definition or even a passage that leads one to believe that love is some kind of passive, self centered, self satisfying feeling. What the bible teaches is that love is an action, not based on how you feel, but based on your actions. Is it any wonder that you hear people say, We fell out of love, when actually what they are saying is, I have drained all the life out of my mate, now I need someone else to drain the life out of. There was a time in my life that I couldnt even stand my wife, looking back I realize that I was a self centered, arrogant, life draining, bad tempered, ugly, super absorbent sponge draining the life out of my wife, and everything around me. I was operating under a worldly ooey, gooey feeling. My love had no action behind it. Jesus taught that real love has actions behind it. Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth, 1 John 3:18 NI V. You will never fall out of love when your love becomes a verb not a noun. Jesus told his disciples theyd be known by their love as revealed in their actions.
Matthew 25:35-36:
· You gave food to the hungry.
· You gave drink to the thirsty.
· You invited a stranger into your home.
· You gave clothes to the naked.
· You cared for the sick.
· You visited the prisoners.
