A lot of people say he hated Catholics, but this is a nonsense. He regularly visits Catholic members of his constituency who are in hospital and has deep concern for their souls. He disagreed (very vocally) with the Roman Catholic system of religion. This is very different. Also, he was an honest politician. A rare thing these days.

He's quite a character is Ian Paisley, quite a character.Politics won't be as colourful without him. Hope he can just concentrate on the Lord now, without having to be involved in other things that consume his time.God bless.
Perhaps he will have time to speak at the conference now :-)REVIVAL CONFERENCE 2008: Greenock, Scotlandhttps://www.sermonindex.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=22493&forum=35&11

Sure thing! It would be something else to see him at the conference, God willing.God bless.
I have enjoyed listenting to Ian Paisley preach. Unfortunately his call to arms in Northern Ireland and his partisan politics make him a controversial character and not for biblical reasons. It could be argued about his thoughts on Catholics and whether he loves them or not. Unfortunately, like many Christian leaders in North America, he will be remembered not for the cause of Christ, nor for the love of Christ, but for controversy in regard to politics. In many ways he is similiar to the late Jack Glass from Glasgow who, when he preached Christ was an excellent preacher.I come from Greenock where the conference is to be held. If Mr Paisley were to speak, then the conference would be about Mr Paisley and the name of Jesus would be lost in a town where over half the population is Catholic and where he is perceived, rightly or wrongly, to be a Catholic hater............Frank
