China asks Web sites to eradicate porn, violence

China asks Web sites to eradicate porn, violence

BEIJING (Reuters) - China has called on domestic Web sites to sign a voluntary pact governing online video and audio content, saying they should exercise self-censorship to ensure a "healthy and orderly" cyberspace.
The move is part of government efforts to exert greater control over China's rapidly growing Internet sector, and to prevent content deemed harmful or subversive from getting into the public domain.

Eight "central" Web sites on Friday signed the pact requiring them to eradicate pornography and violence, which had "seriously polluted the online environment and affected the growth of young people", the national broadcast watchdog said.

"The signatories should actively disseminate healthy, beneficial audio-visual programs meeting socialist moral norms," reads the text of the pact drafted by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. ...

We are too concerned towards worshipping "mammon" that we cannot "constrain" sin.

A Christian over here told me a man gets paid twice as much to print porn as in an ordinary printshop. We forget how much people are willing to pay to feed private addictions.

Recent times have seen a deal of political effort being turned towards creating consumer choice rather than providing good service.

It all costs money (choice) and people find themselves working harder for a choice between shoddier services - all in the name of modernisation. The more the ideology seems to matter, the less important people become as the reason for the ideology's existence. In this case, the ideology includes the hope of being able to do whatever one likes, as long as one can afford the fee. Work hard. Play hard.

From the article:

' "The signatories should actively disseminate healthy, beneficial audio-visual programs meeting socialist moral norms," reads the text of the pact drafted by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.

' "Decadent, backward thoughts and culture must be boycotted by all," '

'...... set up by the watchdog where there was a pool of recommended "excellent" audio-visual programs and a list of illegal content that must be avoided.

Web sites were also obliged to delete improper content uploaded by ordinary Internet users and to protect intellectual property, according to the pact. '

If they tried to something so good for society as to outlaw pornagraphy, then many, including those in the church, would raise some artificial issue about the Christian staying out of legislation....(while they of course stay in.)

And so it goes in the pampered politically correct country our forefathers sacrificed to build. Oh how pious we have become...looking down on the dirty business of living on Earth with heavenly enlightened disdain. Today, safe from any present danger, our Christians discuss paficism, and political abdication as if these ideas were the very Sermon on the Mount. Alas, they sip so much sweet self-righteous dandy spirituality, they simply no longer have the salty fortitude God gave them to march through mud and snow to fight for their children.

And so evil prospers, while the only voice we can raise is to prophesy our own downfall.

 Re:

Too bad China isn't doing it for "moral" reasons.
They've killed more Christians then most.

Back when -- in boot camp - they taught us the way to "Overtake a Country", was to flood it with porn, booze and drugs. That was number one on the list. Now we have "prescription drugs" that we didn't have then. And many other "mind numbing" things to deal with - such as, flouride, television, media, and the actual social engineering of these media forms.

There is much each person can do. In my home town, I started a petition to get the porn out of town. Then took it to our State Rep. He signed it and then went even further and took it to the State house. It didn't pass as a bill, but because it made the Newspaper - several towns were made aware that "each town can legisilate their own decentcy laws" and they did.

Just one person can do more than they realize. I'm no macho-woman, but was able to have other laws and things turned in my own town.

If each person took care of their own town - just think what could happen.

But anyway - again, China is only doing this because they know that porn actually makes men 'dumbed down' and that the violence will make 'the people' harder to control.

So much for all of our Big Name Christian men on TBN, CBN, radio and elsewhere for making all these changes in this country.

Activists? No - they have certainly not been.

So those with political agendas like Warren and Co came in to fill the void that WE left.

I'm sorry - I just know what one person can do in their own town.

 Re:

Hia MC. Sitting here downloading sermons and reading posts.

That was the Lord brother, cuz I was always shy. But I had a near 'death', so to speak, in 94 and I just wanted to thank the LORD for saving me from it and I guess because of it, I got braver.

Got school zone changes made and a bunch of things like that for our town's children and elderly - and it was just God, because He got me a job where I could meet all the folks in town and then got going to the town council meetings and right up to the Governor on some things. And this is from a wet-noodle whimp - but brother - I only brought that up because of these big name Christian leaders who do nothing.
If one half-pint female can change a town - what on earth are they doing???
We all have that power to change our own towns that we live in. Attending school board meetings and Town Council meetings and then just getting involved with the people of the town in a big way. Started a Volunteer Help Org too.
I worked at the school and the gas station - so it WAS GOD that put me where I could get "un-shy" quick. So I was working two jobs, yet the LORD still gave me time to do the phone calls etc. that were needed for all of it.

Most folks don't realize about their own town and I'm not saying it's too late - but I do wish we'd see it that way.

I can still be a pacifist but turn half a state upside down. That was in Connecticut and if the Lord heals me - my Pastor is waiting on me to do it here, in our town too. Well, he's praying but it's up to HIM.

T'ain't about me Brother. 'Tis about us all.

Love you in Him.
