My grace is sufficient for you -philpot

My grace is sufficient for you

(J. C. Philpot, "Strength Made Perfect in Weakness")

"My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is
made perfect in your weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9

Not your strength,
not your wisdom,
not your prayers,
not your experience;
but "My grace"—My free, My matchless grace,
independent of all works and efforts, independent of
everything in the creature—flowing wholly and solely,
fully and freely, out of the bosom of Jesus to . . .
the needy,
the guilty,
the destitute,
the undone.

You who are tried in worldly circumstances,
who have to endure the hard lot of poverty
—"My grace is sufficient for you."

You who are tempted, day by day, to say
or do that which conscience testifies against
—"My grace is sufficient for you."

You who are harassed with family troubles
and afflictions, and are often drawn aside into
peevishness and fretfulness—"My grace is
sufficient for you."

Our weakness, helplessness, and inability
are the very things which draw forth the power,
the strength, and the grace of Jesus!

Believer, your case is never beyond the reach
of the words—"My grace is sufficient for you!"

The free, the matchless, sovereign grace of God,
is sufficient for all His people—in whatever state,
or stage, or trouble, or difficulty they may be in!

"My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is
made perfect in your weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9

Re: My grace is sufficient for you -philpot

I preached this past Sunday regarding the two incidents in which the Lord told His disciples "where " to fish (Luke 5, and John 21). One at the beginning of of their call, the other after the resurrection and at their commissioning into service, but both demonstrating by a visible and tangible illustration the poverty of our ability to do anything by all our efforts outside the grace and enabling of Jesus Christ. We are the "perfection of weakness"... He the perfection of strength, love, grace, holiness, knowledge, wisdom, and...

Oh how desperately, desperately needy we are, and oh how thankful I am for His all sufficiency.

Thank you for this great reminder.

Clint

 Re:

I have come to the hour that I new would come. I hear him say "give everything to me".

To everyone who knows me it looks like I am succesful. I have everything that anybody could want but I am failure.

What he is calling me to do I cannot do. I have reached a wall I cannot climb as it is to high. I have reached the wall that is to long for me to go around. I have reached a wall that I cannot go under as the wall is to deep.

But I hear his voice say "My Grace is sufficient for you"

I know God is doing a deep work in me right know. I sit at my desk and cry, I get home from work and I cry.

How great is my God tell me how great is my God.

My heart is breaking, who am I, before this Great God. I have no words to describe the surrender of my heart to this Great God.

For you are Great. You do mighty wonders Great. There is no one else like you. There is no one else like you.
