Hi Logic.

I think there is more to what Nicodemus said than what you mentioned. I see three things in particular.

What are those three things?

Also, why do you keep asking me this question?

It seems that you believe it.
I don't want to think it if it ain't true.

 Re:

Hi Logic,

The three things were: that He was a teacher come from God, that He was doing miracles, and that God was with Him.

I know you qouted the verse but I was asking about the Lord's response to Nicodemus having said these things.

What does that have to do with the subject?

Why won't you answer the question?
It is a simple quesion.

 Re:

Hi Logic,

I was looking to compare the response there with how the Lord responded in John chapter 6.

As to the question you keep asking me, haven't I only qouted to you the scriptures?

Chris

Your answer to my question will be how I see you interpreting the scriptures.

Will you answer or not?

Do you think that it is God who rejects man instead of man rejecting GOD?

Re: Is it a Work to Believe the Words of Jesus

Good evening ChrisJD,

You asked if this made sense:

Quote:
I think He told them what God's work(not works) was instead.

Absolutely. I've seen the plural contrasted with the singular in other pleces also. 'Seed' and 'seeds' come to mind, as does 'generation of Jesus Christ' and 'generations of Adam' (KJV).

These singulars seem always to point to the completeness and singularity of God, compared with the many generations, bloods and peoples of humanity. That reminds me of what Paul said in Acts 17 on Mars Hill, that God had made of one blood, all men. Interesting... sorry I'm drifting away from the matter of whether it's any effort to believe?

 Re:

Dorcas, good evening to you too :-)

"...sorry I'm drifting away from the matter of whether it's any effort to believe?"

That's alright, and I appreciate the emphasis you added here in question, of it being any effort.

If we agree that the Lord was telling them what the work of God was, instead of telling them how to work the works of God, we might ask:

Could they have worked the works of God in and of themselves anyway? Could they have fed all of those mulitudes for instance, in their own power or by their own effort?

I think of what the Lord Jesus said in John 5:17,19-20.

Thanks :-)
