Hanukkah, one homeless, and the pure.

"Unto the pure all things are pure..."

Hi everyone.

I'd like to relate a little story to you all that seems appropriate to me now. When it happened, I thought I would like to tell you all but wasn't sure how it would be appropriate.

Last weekend I had gone downtown to evangelise and as I was walking along I came across a procession of cars which had this display of candles on their roof and there was music playing from nearby also. I figured this was all in obserbvance of Hanukkah. I thought about handing some cards I had made to some of the people but decided not too.

As I went on I noticed a woman sitting on the side of a building, which in this area homeless people sometimes do. She was crying. I stopped and asked her if she was alright. She said she was. In fact, she wasn't crying because something was wrong, to her, or in her mind. She said it was just so beautifull. She was referring to the procession of cars that were going by. I found out that she thought that these cars had the candles on their roofs in honor of the birthday of Jesus.

And she thought it was the most beautifull thing. And she wept to see it.

Well, I did'nt dare tell her otherwise. Maybe some would say I should have. They might say I should have set it all straight and told her how these people were not honoring the Lord Jesus as their Messiah, as the promised Child of Isaiah 7 and 9 and their long awaited Prince of peace and delieverer. They might say I should have told her all that and set it all straight.

But, maybe we could learn something from her instead?

We are so wise about what is evil.

Perhaps she was not so wise about what is evil. But in the simplicity of what she saw, she was able to weep for joy.

"Unto the pure all things are pure..."

Chris

There are many Messianic Jews that celebrate Hanukkah, why should they not? I think it is a wonderful holiday, the re-dedication of the Temple. If those folks in the procession do not believe in the Lord Jesus, that's their business, they just don't hear His voice...the Lord knoweth how to deliver...and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgement to be punished.
