 Re: seeking a ministerial position

Seeking a position in a church in the western world, you will notice that it is somewhat like seeking a job in the secular world. One thing I would recommend you not do when at a "job interview" is to use words like "it would be so cool."
Just trying to help.
I pray our Lord bless you to bear much fruit to His ultimate glory!! So glad you are looking for a position in a church, trying looking for discipleship under one of your church's pastors. That is a great way to "start from the ground up."

Welcome to SI, brother (or sister). I hope you stay here for a while to share and learn. This is a good place to bounce off your thoughts, visions, and ideas, and receive feedback.

As far as your prayer request, I’m afraid, I cannot comply. First of all, I don’t know anything about you. For all I know, I could be praying for someone of a completely different belief system, or someone who is more interested in “My will be done’ instead of “Thy will be done”. Of course that may not be true for you, but surely you would wish us here to exercise discretion.

Why not post some of your sermons here, and allow the forum to give you feedback. If you submit yourself to the Body, then God can use others in your own growth. I’ll never forget a word of advice I heard once - regarding the role of a choral conductor: “You must be on both sides of the baton”. It’s the same for pastoring. You must be on both sides of the pulpit – not in the sense of being “one of the gang” but in the sense of being willing to receiving ministry also.

Just a thought: These days, people are not as inclined to receive a word from a total stranger, or lone rangers. You need to establish relationship and trust and let the light shine through your life. I take it you are already involved in a local church, serving in the humble ways that God calls you to.
And if preaching and/or pastoring in a formal way is truly a call from God, he will open doors. He will also confirm it through the Body.

I admit, I cannot participate in discussion these days, as I am over the edge with responsibilities, but hope to be around in the New Year. In the mean time, may God be your guide and light. And may he be your full satisfaction.

Diane
