Not unless the Spirit bares witness that they legitimately need it.
Yes I do; my soul just recoils at the thought of anyone begging. It's just so....degrading. Now before anyone gets their dander up about how they [beggars] got themselves in that position in the first place, i don't know but because of my line of work, i can tell when someone is high/crashing from a high/showing withdrawal symptoms. Other than that, i make it a point to keep $1 bills in my pocket so i can give without delving into my bag. It's so easily to ignore beggars but God made them too.

Most of the people who beg in my city do so because they have one or more of many vices. I know where the drug dealers are in my neighborhood, and where the drug dealers are you'll usually find 10 or 15 people begging for money at different times of the day. They're just trying to get a cheap fix, or get some booze usually. There are rescue missions nearby, and food banks, if someone is genuinely in need there are plenty of places to get help. The problem is that these people don't want help, they want to continue to feed their addictions.I'm not going to pay for someone elses drugs, booze or cigarettes.

try handing some beggars a gospel tract with some money! Then pray for them, maybe they will get saved!

i think Jim's way is the best, i think of the apostles.... walking by a beggar, he said money have i none, but i will give you what i have....and what happened we know... wonder what would have happened if he just would have given him some money?

chandrasNot too shy to talk what is your point of view in this question of yours?.In my growing up we are not rich just enough to have meal on the table my catholic mother and having 7 children and 5 foster children, i don't know how she understood them, beggar are not only poor in belly also in spirit. Every time my mom come accross with the person she invite them in our house made a room for him/her to sleep in as a guest, feed them clothes them some of them stay for a long time some of them leave straight away soon their belly are full. some of them come back different person got job, full of confidence happy and renewed. i guess not only give them the penny and word of God but be able to show them how to live and trust what God says, does work really cause my husband and i had done the same thing. Spiritually it's hard battle, mentally and physically exhausted can be but the Lord made it posibble for us to reach out .... we have no wordly treasure only word of God and learn to truly trust Him.I am not sharing this to boast what we have achive or done sharing it so that others may be encourage in gracious heart of Jesus.
