| Happy Reformation Day | | Luther nailed the theses on Oct.31st and began the major break from the Catholic church, standing for salvation by grace through faith, not of works. |

| Re: Happy Reformation Day | | And what a wonderful day it is to celebrate the truth of the bible as it was written! That we might not be held to man's gospel, but we can live according to the unadulterated word of God.
Praise God that there have been saints throughout the ages, who have sacrificed much in order for us to hold in our hands the bible; the word of God! We can follow His commandments, and not those of an organized "church" (which was so incredibly corrupt before the reformation)
There is still so much corruption in the mainstream churches; in North America as well as the rest of the world! May we be reminded today, that we answer to God! We must use what He has given us in His word, to rightly divide the word of truth!!
I am so thankful for the pure milk of the word which teaches us all we need to know in this life!

| Re: | | Praise God for the reformation and for the brave men and women who stood up for truth, even at the cost of their very lives!
"If he have faith, the believer cannot be restrained. He betrays himself. He breaks out. He confesses and teaches this gospel to the people at the risk of life itself." - Martin Luther
A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing; Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing: For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe; His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal.
Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing; Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of Gods own choosing: Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He; Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same, And He must win the battle.
And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us, We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us: The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him; His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure, One little word shall fell him.
That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth; The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth: Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also; The body they may kill: Gods truth abideth still, His kingdom is forever.

| Re: | | I know of a family celebrating Reformation Day by having papal-bull burgers, who will be feeding themselves a diet of (gummy) worms, and will be watching the old black and white Luther movie.
I intend to make something like that a tradition in my family, myself. Tonight I'll be watching the movie, if not having the worms. |

| Re: | | OH no!!! After I rented the movie, I realized that I had the 1974 Stacey Keach version, which is a total let down. |

| Re: | | Yeah, the 1953 version, and the one with Joseph Fienes are much better.
You could always dress up like a German monk, and nail 95 theses on a Church door for fun. ;-) _________________ patrick heaviside

| Re: | | We had our Reformation Day celebration this past Sunday evening. Some people dressed in costumes from that time period. We had a presentation on the five solas of the Reformation, some short skits, some of Luther's Table Talks, my brother did a reenactment of Johann Tetzel ('as soon as your money chinks in the box...'). There were questions concerning different people or events in the reformation. And we had a renaissance banquet...on a very small scale. :-)
It was a lot of fun, very educational, and spiritually edifying to remember this climatic point in Christian history. Oh yes, we had a scroll nailed to the door to remember the 95 theses. ;-)
