Polygamist leader convicted in Utah

ST. GEORGE, Utah - The leader of a polygamous Mormon splinter group was convicted Tuesday of being an accomplice to rape for performing a wedding between a 19-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl.

Warren Jeffs, 51, could get life in prison after a trial that threw a spotlight on a renegade community along the Arizona-Utah line where as many as 10,000 of Jeffs' followers practice plural marriage and revere him as a mighty prophet with dominion over their salvation.

Jeffs, like his 15 followers in the courtroom, stood stoically as the verdict was read.

Prosecutors said Jeffs forced the girl into marriage and sex against her will.

....
Jeffs succeeded his father in 2002 as president of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Former members say he rules with an iron fist, demanding perfect obedience from followers and exercising the right to arrange marriages as well as break them up and assign new spouses.

Wow. Crazy news inside the cults.

In this article he is convicted as charged and it says he will most likely be in prison for a very long time. Thank-you Jesus for not allowing at least this one sick person to roam the earth. Maybe he'll try ruling with an "iron fist and demand complete obedience" from the colorful characters in jail. I would lot to see how that turned out ;)

This fellow is so disgusting....makes one wonder why any decent people would follow him?! Ugh! If all would have used some common sense he would have not have succeeded as well as he did for as long as he did...this is a no-brainer as far as I am concerned.

Should not respond emotionally in SI, right? This situation tests my limits, for sure!

 Re:

Yeah, disgusting is right.

I heard that he excommunicated a man from his community that had 10 children and 2 wives. He thought it was just going to be for a while but then Warren gave his 2 wives and children to this man's brother. And why? Because his brother had given Warren 3 of this daughters, two 17-year-olds and one 18-year-old daughter so he could marry them to some of his buddies. How disgusting is that? And not only that, but this man had paid over 10 million dollars from his businesses as a tithe to Warren's church!!!!

This guy is demon-possesed and needs a special place in hell reserved for him.

B/c it's not just that man's life he destroyed, what about all those children and women who feel like they must listen to him or go to hell?

May God show them some light!
