Why do I make such an issue about sin? Because sin is the issue. Sin captivates souls and drags them to an eternal hell. Sin can overtake the strongest of men, and make fools out of intelligent people. Sin lies itself into peoples hearts and slays them at the last. Sin will even promise people heaven, as it walks them in a sure path to hell. Sin is a tyrant that no man of earth can tame. God, in His absolute holiness, abhors sin. How His heart must have grieved when Adam chose to commit that first sin, thereby polluting himself and all of mankind with sin. Thank God for His great love and concern for His erring creation, which compelled Him to send His Son as a mighty Saviour to rescue man from this woeful plight. No wonder Isaiah called His name Wonderful! Jesus Christ is a Saviour indeed, delivering us utterly from sin, through the power of His blood. Saviour not only means to rescue or deliver, but also to preserve, to keep safe. What Jesus delivers us from, we need never go back into captivity to again, through His divine, keeping power. Hence, one writer paraphrased I Jn. 1:7 thus, But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the redeeming, sanctifying, cleansing, sin-destroying, devil-overcoming and omnipotent power of the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin! This is the glorious gospel; the good tidings of great joy proclaimed by the angels at the birth of Jesus. How grieved God must now be, after making such a costly provision for mans deliverance from sin, to see the propagation of another gospel, with its defeated, unbiblical, sin-youmust, sin-you-cant-help-it doctrine. This other gospel comes complete with another Jesus, who neither abhors sin nor conquers it. Consequently, neither do his followers. This is a hellish religion which, though popular, will be the cause of multitudes sinking into eternal woe, for without holiness no man shall see the Lord (Heb. 12:14). sm The greatest sin Ive ever seen Is garbed in gospel clothes, so lean. A nakedness you cant defy, So glaringly doth testify. We are children of the King! And yet to sin they ever cling. But God above doth clothe His own In righteous linen always shown. Religious, without life divine, Oh sin of sins, infernal crime. The Jesus of the cross you mock, Another one from hell youve got! Against this sham and mockery, All heaven points her armory. Tis fuel of hell, a false profession, Be sure, dear soul, youve pure religion. Warning strongly, ere the shock Of judgment fires consume the lot. These words seem strong and yet I tell In hopes to save your soul from hell. _________________ Samuel
