One of Satan's masterpieces - James

One of Satan's masterpieces

"This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the Devil,
or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown
down to the earth with all his angels." Revelation 12:9

It is one of Satan's masterpieces to induce men to take
some one truth of Scripture, and to magnify its importance
beyond all due bounds, and to exalt it not only above all
other truths—but to the utter exclusion of them, thus
founding error upon truth, and heresies upon the sacred
Scriptures.

"He was a murderer from the beginning and has always
hated the truth. There is no truth in him. When he lies,
it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and
the father of lies." John 8:44

J.A James

Our own Roadsign recently observed that we can make idols out of even the most spiritual goals.

This is why we must be humble enough to recieve correction from one another...else we run out of bounds with the the small truth we have possession of, like a running back who can run fast with a football, but has no understanding of the game.

For instance, consider how once faithful congregations have become today's modern seeker-sensitive businesses; not out of a naked ambition to be more worldy and sensual but, perhaps at first, out of an unbalanced ambition to win as many souls as possible...at the expense of the flock.

AW Pink...

"During the last two or three generations the pulpit has given less and less prominence to doctrinal preaching, until today, with very rare exceptions, it has no place at all...

Many of the pulpiteers of the past fifty years acted as though the first and last object of their calling was the salvation of souls, everything being made to bend to that aim. In consequence, the feeding of the sheep, the maintaining of a Scriptural discipline in the church, and the inculcation of practical piety, was crowded out; and only too often all sorts of worldly devices and fleshly methods were employed under the plea that the end justified the means; and thus the churches were filled with unregenerate members. In reality, such men defeated their own aim."

this is true, The balance of scripture is important. We see so much overemphasis on so many things...
