Bear Stearn's and the dollar falling...

Bear Stearns just announced that two of their funds which were comprised of mortgages issued to people who are not credit worthy, are worthless. This is the first brokerage house to announce this financial failure. However, Bear Stearns is not the only financial company having exposer to the CDO (Collateralized Debt Obligations) market. All the main brokerage houses and banks have done extensive "financial engineering" in this field of investment.

This means that the stocks of these companies are based now on unkown book value. The liquidity of these financial instruments is rapidly drying up. In other words, no one is willing to buy these investment pools because no one knows if there is any value left in these investments.

Secondly, the U.S. Dollars has dropped to new all time lows in value compared to the Euro. The Dollar has dropped to a 26 year low in comparison to the pound. The Dollar has lost 33% of it's perceived value since 2001.

Thirdly, the nation of Iran on Friday, demanded that the Japanese begin purchasing their oil with Yen and not Dollars. On Monday, the State Department announced that they were seeking to place financial restrictions on Iran.

The world's nations from China, Russia, Iran, and before the invasion, Iraq, has begun to divest of the U.S. Dollar. They perceive that the financial stablity of the Dollar is waning.

Just a heads up on what is happening...

In Christ
Jeff

Re: Bear Stearn's and the dollar falling...

You know, I have been thinking about this quite a bit lately...probably more than I should.

If this has the normal "mass hysteria herd mentality effect" that sometimes resounds throughout the financial markets, our economy could suffer alot very quickly from this.

However - Although a falling dollar will definitely affect the lifestyles of every day American's, this may not necessarily be a bad thing. Removing the spiritual aspect from it completely, America's society is in a deep need for a correction in its attitude towards work, spending, immediate gratification, etc....

Once you add the spiritual back in, then you can see a correction is very NECESSARY for our country....this might be the beginnings of it.

Also, the reason that we have almost no manufacturing or production jobs left is because the dollar was so high verses the other currencies...it's just so much cheaper to build things elsewhere. As that is no longer the case, and continues to even out over time, maybe we will get jobs back in the US again that have been gone for a long time.

One thing is very evident though, and that is with the decreased purchasing power of the dollar then those up in Washington should think of lowering the tax rate down below the 45-50% rate it's set at now (28% federal, 7% state,
15% for Social Securiyt and Medicare...half paid by you, half paid by your boss...which you still pay for by decreased salary....plus property tax, sales tax, gasoline tax, and a whole plethora of other taxes).

I think Ron Paul would be an EXCELLENT candidate for president (www.ronpaul2008.com). He is the only one who seems to realize that America can no longer afford to be the "Rome" of the 21st Century - taxing the whole world by devaluing the dollars that they hold in their reserves to buy oil, and ruling other nations for anyone we deem worthy of "Regime Change". He is also the only one that I believe isn't just saying whatever is needed to get elected, only to sell out to the global corporations once he gets in office.

Praise the Lord though...Jesus is coming back soon. Let us make every effort to be found by Him IN PEACE....letting not our hearts being troubled, for mens hearts will fail for FEAR of the things coming upon them.

Whatever my lot, He has taught me to say, it is well, it is well, with my soul....

The Sky is Falling!!! ... The Sky is Falling!!! ...

Bro Jeff you wrote;
"The world's nations from China, Russia, Iran, and before the invasion, Iraq, has begun to divest of the U.S. Dollar. They perceive that the financial stablity of the Dollar is waning.

Just a heads up on what is happening..."

Of the latter, i'm sure you already know, to most you sound like Chicken Little, "The sky is falling, the sky is falling"! ... Info such as what you (i and a few others here on SI) post is either pooh-poohed as just plain ole conspiracist based fear mongering (tho the handwriting on the wall is obvious even if we don't want to accept the interpretation), or as "oh well what can we do about it" from the defeatist, poorer, lower socio-economic classes, or as "Our Government/The Fed will never allow such an economic demise/collapse in America" from the eternally optimistic "faith in the plan of man" set ...
i'm following info re: what you've posted as i believe that soon, and very soon, there'll be many a saint in my circle who'll suddenly become open to explanation ...

With all that's happening in the world, in America, i go back and forth between rejoicing
at such events in the vain that as a Christian i do believe that such down hill escalation points even nearer to our deliverance becoming nigh, to really feeling such sorrow for so many of my fellow Americans (especially saints) who just refuse to see what's transpiring before our very eyes (therefore no way to pro-actively repent before His Majesty) ... The last thing that the American citizentry, saints included, will respond to is the type of "heads up" you've posted here ... First off, like so many other Americans, many of us have our heads deep in the sand, with our rear ends exposed in the exaggeration of our unnatural position ... According to scripture we should ALL be walking circumspectly, taking inventory of everything and weighing it, and straining it via Scripture ... Then there are others of us who really think that as The Body of Christ we're rapture ready, and so will escape any
hardships that such dire posts convey ... i could be wrong, but for me personally that's not what i hear Holy Spirit bearing witness to in my spirit and it has me in a "watch and pray" mode of such an intensity i can't even describe ... Hardships such as we are not accustomed to is coming to America, and i believe it to be extremly instrumental and effective as a "Refiner's Fire" to where we're supposed to be spiritually ...

It's so true that the world is in the power of the wicked one, he who knows his time is far more shorter even moreso than when this observation was first scripturally made ... The devil's madness to me seems more and more evident in what he's doing thru his men of power here on earth ... We seem to be at a culmination of world wide madness, where America (the so called seat of Christianity) as a nation has divested itself from Him and just about all of His commandments to becoming the sad demonically possessed and/or motivated, spiritually, ethically, morally and now economically bankrupt society we've become ... And yes some of the so called rogue OPEC nations, most Islamic, would just love to make one massive economically suicidal dash of divesting out of the dollar, but for many reasons haven't been able to do so ... It seems that while Iraq, and Iran, may be willing in attempts to taking America down economically, other nations such as Russia and now China, supposedly Communist anti-capitalism nations, allow the US certain lee-way (such as this war in Iraq) because even tho they hate us, and would love to see us topple, they know that the continued financial fortunes of their own coffers heavily rely on our wickedly perverse U.S. consumerism ... Even the E.U., designed to give us a run for our money (pun intended), is having a hard time in figuring out how to replace us as the world's economic giant, without shooting off one of their feet in the process, after all who's gonna buy in such great mass all the crap we buy from them ... Seems to me our God has allowed the devil to manuver the world between Iraq (a rock) and a hard place, and all that's left is for some event(s) to push the nations over the precipice of producing an seriously economically declined America ... Things as we know it have to change drastically in order for this world to be set up for the one world rule of Anti-christ, and an America as chief dictator of monetary policy, along with our dollar as chief instument of buying and selling has to go sometimes ... Trouble is so many of us saints still see the fulfilment of Bible prophecies as being still out there a bit, but never take into concideration that there's always a history leading up to a climactic, and few see when we're in that history ... Few Jews in Germany read their history correctly, and by the time the climactic showed itself it was to late! ...

You know i was watching the Hal Lindsey report the other day, and i praise God that He's taught me to not throw the baby out with the bath water in many of the ministries He may have me listen to ... Hal was talking about this very subject of your post, when he ran down how at first the value of our dollar was tied to precious metals ( gold & silver), and how in the late 60's/early 70's Pres. Nixon worked out a deal with Saudi Arabia/OPEC to tie the value of our dollar to their oil, as the only demonition of currency in which oil all over the world could be bought and sold ... For any other nation to attempt to replace the petro-dollar with another currency, especially in light of our present debt laden situation, is asking for trouble from the U.S. Government and military, and will eventually get it ... Personally i think we Americans are the most self centered, uninformed and basically non thinking folks on the planet ... We don't see anything past anything that threatens our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, and if anything disturbing happens to make us look up we never see the problem as ourselves, it's always projected out to someone else ...

No wonder we can't pro-actively repent of anything we do personally, familaly, societally, governmentaly, financially, but most importan SPIRITUALLY ... It's the neglect, nay the pure refusal, of the latter that has brought us to where we are today, and if i did not know that all is according to His will/plan i'd be scared ... But i do ... So i'm not!

If you really want to capitalize on the upcoming economic calamity, start buying the shiny commodity that lasts forever, never rusts, and will 'always' be worth something...

...Convert your American and Canadian dollars into "Heaven Bucks" and store them in the 'Immortal Bank of Heaven' where thieves can't steal... or buy a "Heaven Retirement Savings Plan" - just imagine the gains on 8% interest - for eternity!.

But, "how can I convert my worldly dollars into 'Heaven Bucks'", you ask?

Easy, find a fellow family member in need - or a churchgoer, friend, co-worker, colleague, or stranger - and give him or her as many worldly dollars as he or she needs.

The exchange rate improves if you give to single mothers, the disabled, the homeless the elderly - and especially if you pay for some poor kid to go to summer camp.

 Re:

Amen Corey, good post!

That really is the only thing we can count on!

More specifically, I really like the following:

GFA - Support native missionaries and sponsor poverty-stricken children who can't afford school (and they go to a Bible school)

Voice of Martyrs - Specifically give to Families of Martyrs - families left behind after martyrdom or prison occurs with the primary breadwinner.

David Servant, Heaven's Family - Very solid brother. Would recommend his ministry to reach out to "the least of these" at any time.

God bless!

Yup. The best investment you can make on Earth is in the Kingdom of Heaven.

I should have gone into economics!

 Re:

Update of what happened last week...

The China Effect

The biggest news coming out of China this week was a gambit announced by some lower echelon Chinese bureaucrats to “go nuclear” on US financial markets to pressure the US to back off its efforts to stop China’s currency manipulation.  As noted in Englands Daily Telegraph:

The Chinese government has begun a concerted campaign of economic threats against the United States, hinting that it may liquidate its vast holding of US treasuries if Washington imposes trade sanctions to force a yuan revaluation. Two officials at leading Communist Party bodies have given interviews in recent days warning - for the first time - that Beijing may use its $1.33 trillion (£658bn) of foreign reserves as a political weapon to counter pressure from the US Congress. Shifts in Chinese policy are often announced through key think tanks and academies. Described as China's "nuclear option" in the state media, such action could trigger a dollar crash at a time when the US currency is already breaking down through historic support levels. advertisement It would also cause a spike in US bond yields, hammering the US housing market and perhaps tipping the economy into recession. It is estimated that China holds over $900bn in a mix of US bonds. Xia Bin, finance chief at the Development Research Centre (which has cabinet rank), kicked off what now appears to be government policy with a comment last week that Beijing's foreign reserves should be used as a "bargaining chip" in talks with the US.

Secondly, the world printed 500 billion worth of paper money to stop the current financial lockup...which means that the currency you own just lost value.

In Christ
