God loves all men

Jesus told us to love everyone. So are we to be more loving than God? No, For God so loved the world and He desires all men to come to repentance. Whosoever will let him take the water of life freely. God does not mock us with these words, He loves all men and allows them to choose life or death. God is love!

 Re:

If any [man] come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26

The word hate is used here also, but later Paul tells husbands to love thier wives. So clearly Jesus didn't mean to pursue them with hatred or detest them. You see brother, these scriptures you have quoted are not easily understood, but one thing I know Jesus said, If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Luke 14:7.

We must be careful not to create an image of God outside of what has been revealed in Jesus Christ. Jesus never turned anyone away and showed love to all men. For there are none righteous no not one, and if God hated anyone he should have hated me.

Ecclesiastes 3:8 says, there is A time to love, and a time to hate. I am convinced this is a time to love and until Christ has came for his bride God is crying for men to repent and be saved.

 Re:

TimmyJoe,
I'm in agreement on most of the things you stated. I have only posted scripture references and Language definitions of the words. God does love everyone in one sense. He been good to us all by giving us (all that he should be thanked for). He is good to the rebelious, in that he has been longsuffering at the time being. He has guven the ungodly their food and shelter. He has given them the light of conscience to warn them of sin it's death. He hasn't killed them at this moment for their sin. In this sense, he loves them.

However, God does not love everybody in another sense. God has not shown mercy upon everyone. (This is clear in Romans 9)

You said it beautifully, "If God hated anyone he should have hated me." I must confess the same for me. God has a right to hate us all (for our enmity and rebellion) However, He has chosen to have mercy on some and not others. (he did not base his election because of our forseen will or abilty) None of us (by nature) have the will or ability to come to God. God had mercy on His Elect.

It also must be uderstood... God's hatred is a holy hatred, a just hatred, a good hatred, and a wrathful hatred. His hatred is not unjust, evil, or sinful (like the devil's).

When i said, "None of us (by nature) have the will or ability to come to God."

...That might have startled some. I have posted a thread on this topic, if you would like to study why I believe this doctrine.

 Re:

Brother Abe,
I do not agree with alot of your views. Because I truly believe God desires all men to be saved, and He said whosoever will let him take the water of life freely. You see if God just elected people without foreknowledge, why would it be any harder for a man with riches to be saved than a poor man? Because a rich man will never realize his need for faith in anything but money.

But I won't try and convince you to see the way I do. I believe thats why Paul said, Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation: Rom. 15:20

If you ever let the enemy convince you that God hates you you'll be in a world of trouble. So stay strong in the Word and instant in prayer.

-God Bless, TimmyJoe

TimmyJoe,
Revelation 22:17 (KJV) says:

17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Let him that is athirst come.

From Thayer's definition:
"figuratively, those who are said to thirst who painfully feel their want of, and eagerly long for, those things by which the soul is refreshed, supported, strengthened."

We both affirm that all who are athirst may come and drink freely, the question and contention is this: "Are all people athirst?"

 Re:

Yes, God loves everyone and wants everyone to be saved.

Hell was not created for men, but is a last resort. God wants all men to be saved, and the Spirit is working to bring that about, convicting men and pleading with men to give up their sin and be reconciled unto God.

We need to take the message of God's love to the ends of the earth, telling all men that God wants them to be saved and telling all men that Jesus died for them, and that what they need to do is to turn from their sin and put their trust in Jesus Christ.

Hahaha... This was my first post ever on SI! Wow, it is amazing how far God has brought me since I posted this (even though I still believe it). I guess I was just looking to pick a fight.
