Does God Hate Most People?

I've heard people say before that God loves only a small amount of the people that He's created, and hates the majority of the people He created, but this view seems to be more widespread today.

So I wanted to ask this question to see how many people hear believe that.

Does God love everyone that He's created?

Does God want everyone to repent and be saved, or does He want the majority to keep on sinning and be condemned?

Does God love only a few, and hate the rest, or does God love the whole world?

(I myself am disturbed when I hear Christians speak of God hating the majority of the world, while loving only a small number of people. I believe God wants everyone to repent and be saved. And is deeply grieved over the rebellion of the world, because He wills the good of all men.)

I believe you are correct. He hates the sins performed by us all. He wants repentance and faith. But I do not believe he actually hates us, only our rebellion because we are told that punishing us is not in his will, but must be done. Jesus is the illustration that he doesn't hate us.

all I can say is this:

when I hear, breathe, speak the Name of God, the next Word I always hear is "love", not "hate".

I receive what you're saying, I pray you recieve what I'm saying with my mere words.

Psalm 5:5 (King James Version)

5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

 Re:

I had to debate someone in a group that believes in "hate".

I won't go into the whole of that debate but boil it down to the smallest denominator.

For GOD so LOVED THE WORLD that He sent His Only Begotten Son ........"

The few verses in the Bible, where it says "GOD hates" can be explained in context and word studies. There are only two, Ps 5:5 and those about Esau, but these two can be exegeted and explained and they never cancel out the 100's, literally, that say that He loves ALL.

He does not rejoice in the death of the wicked.

HE hates the sin that destroys His creation but He does not hate His creation.

He commands that we Love All .... how could He command us to do what HE doesn't do ?

 Re:

We need to leave God where he is… a place of incomprehension when it comes to such things as Hating and Loving at the same time.

It seems that many try to take Him from this lofty place and mold him to their liking…or at least into something they can completely understand. This is not wise.

Love and Hate. The Bible is clear that he can and does do both…and at the same time.

He is God.

 Re:

By posting Psalm 5:5 I was not saying I subscribe to some hate theory...I was just tossing it out there to show God is capable of hate.

I think that what He has done out of love, we have turned it around in our human undxerstanding to be "hate." But that's just my two cents.

I think TJ are exactly right, we need to leave Him where He is because we cannot attribute what mere humans understand and mean by the word "hate" and apply it to the Great God and therefore say in our loftiness that we know "He hates."

I agree with Grannie Annie, He commands that we Love All .... how could He command us to do what HE doesn't do? I have not read one commandment from the Word where He says to hate all.

I think we need to be careful because "we" who in our wicked flesh has assigned to God that "we" think it is that He hates. This is not wise either.

[edit] I posted this right after TJ posted the previous and I did receive it as though you subsribed to some hate theory, so I ask you to forgive me for these words but I'll leave it for anyone who might believe more in hate than in love.]

Does this hold true for love?

we cannot attribute what mere humans understand and mean by the word "love" and apply it to the Great God and therefore say in our loftiness that we know "He loves."

???

Is God lopsided? Do we not know that he hates from the simple fact we know he loves?

I'm not saying what or who He hates...just that he is capable...

While we were haters of God and wicked Christ died for us. Praise God.
