do we know what God thinks about any of these men and who he thinks we ought to vote for if we are to vote?

I think God is first and foremost concerned about innocent blood. Abortion. Abortion is not a political issue. It is a life and death issue, as well as a sin issue. When we do not participate in the voting process, or we vote for someone who we know is pro-abortion... well, I just dont know how a child of God could do that.
I also understand that there are believers who may not agree with me, and thats ok. I'll not argue the point here. But this is the conviction I have. I think scripture backs me up...
Deu 19:13 Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.
Deu 21:9 So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.
2Ki 21:16 Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin wherewith he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.
2Ki 24:4 And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.
Psa 106:38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
Pro 6:16-17 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood... etc.
Isa 59:7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
Jer 7:6-7 If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, forever and ever.
Jer 22:3 Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.
Joel 3:19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

| Re: The upcoming Mormon debate in America | | If someone is not for God
they are against Him, making them an enemy of God. I could not vote for anyone that is an enemy of God
even if it is because they are deceived.
I do have a question or two.
What do we find in the Bible as our example?
Did Jesus and/or the disciples ever face situations like this?
Im not trying to make a statement by asking these questions
they are things I have been wondering about for a while now.

I think when it comes to civic duties the principle is "render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasars".
I dont think we divorce our religious convictions from our civic duties. Our founding fathers certainly didnt, even tho many believers have bought the lie that they were deists (only a handful were... mainly Jefferson and Franklin).
So when it comes time to vote, I believe the believer should vote. If you dont vote, then you automatically turn the direction of the country over to those who do... and believe me, the lost and unregenerate will vote.
If you vote for Mitt Romney you are not voting for him as head of the church. You're voting for him to be head of the country.
Jimmy Carter claimed to be a Christian, and policy-wise he was one of the worst presidents in US history. Good man, bad president.
Bill Clinton is a Southern Baptist... totally disgraced the office.
GW Bush claims to be a Christian... while I dont know his heart, I suspect he used the so-called "Christian-right" to get elected. I agree with some things he's done, but totally disagree with alot that he's done.
So just because someone is a Christian, I dont think the believers of this country should automatically vote for him because the other guy, who is better suited for the job, is of another faith.
Our government is not "for God", therefore is is against God... yet you pay your taxes. If we're to follow this reasoning concerning taxes, then dont pay them. Go to jail. We all love to talk about how we would go thru anything for Jesus... why arent you jail?
Understand, I'm just reasoning... not coming down on you... not really even disagreeing with you. More like thinking out loud about this. I dont have the answers. I'm just asking, trying to provoke thought, not emotions.
Someone is going to ask me "What if he's a Muslim?" The simple answer is: I dont trust any Muslim, at this point, to have the best interest of America in mind. Therefore, I would not vote for him based on that.
By the way, I bet if Romney were a Catholic most Christians wouldnt mind. Catholic, Mormon... there's no difference in my mind. Both are cults.

I don't know of anything in scripture that speaks of a voting process. Most if not all governments at that time were not democracies.
We must remember: - To be subject to the governing authorities (whoever they may be). (Rom. 13:1) - There is no authority except from God. (Rom. 13:1) - The authorities that exist are appointed by God. (Rom. 13:1) - We pay taxes because the authorities (whether good or bad) are God's ministers who punish criminals. (Rom. 13:6)
1 Peter 2:13-15 says, "13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lords sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men 16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king." |

| Re: The upcoming Mormon debate in America | | I'm weary of having a Mormon president. Especially being that they accept unquestionably the teachings that come out of the Utah apostles and prophets. So, in theory he could simply end up being their puppet. Some might say such was the fear we had with Kennedy being a Catholic. However, I think the present situation has more potential to be dangerous for us as a country, being that there have always been "bad" Catholics, of which Kennedy was simply in long succession of. Furthermore, Mormon eschatology believes that they will have a great influence in the restoration of the constitution.
So, this does make for an interesting situation... _________________ Jimmy H
