Matt25 pointed out that "Your interpretation of those verses is a Preterist interpretation (all of Jesus's prophecies fulfilled around 70 A.D.). I do not agree with Preterism"This interpretation is new to me I am wondering what other members of SI think about Preterism. Jakewell, i've had a chance to review some preterist web sites and find the whole notion off base. But the tranfiguration interpretation/explanation doesn't make much sense to me either.DId notice that Preterists say that if their specific interpretation of things is Not true, then "God is a liar". heard that one before.
Justin Martyr called them a bunch of heretics because they denied the Return of our Lord and His reign on this earth for a thousand years.Justin knew the Apostle John at Ephesus, by the way...

Hi jesterbr549I think you are thinking of Polycarp. John was dead before Justin Martyr was born.Justin Martyr born at Flavia Neapolis, about A.D. 100, converted to Christianity about A.D. 130, taught and defended the Christian religion in Asia Minor and at Rome, where he suffered martyrdom about the year 165.
