| Re: | | It means that I who once destroyed everything, including my family, with my own hands has learned how to heal with those same hands. God who is rich in mercy, did a work of restoration that was impossible any other way.
I who was dead am now alive, and bring life to others through the preaching of the word of God.

| Re: Good News??? | | Goldminer, thanks for sharing! Amen! Glory to God! :-D
So, say I'm an unbeliever. I'm here asking a reason for the hope that is in you. I want to know, what is this good news? What are you going to tell me?

Jesus died for my sins, took my sins to the cross with Him. When He died, He provided forgiveness for my sins so I can have a clear conscience before God. When He died, my fleshly nature was crucified with Him, so that now I can live for God with the same ease I had to sin before I knew Him. He has turned it upside down. When He rose, He gave hope that i too will one day rise from the dead, and in this life I can live for God.
The Gospel reaches down and touches mankind like no other thing.

| Re: | | The gospel is Jesus. Because of Jesus, I am now a son of God.
My father loves me so much, he gave up his only deserving son (a part of himself, because he was one with Jesus and the Holy Spirit) to become sin, so that I can now come into my Father's presence as a righteous son, without blame. I am now one with my Father, because when I professed my faith that Jesus died for me, the old me died with him, and the new me was born. He also deposited the Holy Spirit inside of me. I can now walk with him everyday; living life with, and being led by Him.
Later I was baptised in the Spirit (which is the power) and with fire.
My God is a jealous God. He wants to be with his children. _________________ matt

| Re: It is the power of God (what do you know about it?) | | Hi vico,
This is a slightly cryptic response, though not intended to be perverse in any way. It needs the reader to join up the thinking, just a little, and is in complete agreement with what has been posted already here.
Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Psalm 24:1 The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
John 3 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Romans 6 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also of resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
He was baptized into what we had become. He was united with it so that the judgement that came upon Him came upon it. Once and for all. He was baptized into 'our death' and we must be baptized into His. He was united by baptism to what we were and we are united by baptism (not water) to what he is.
He became Sin and the judgement that was wreaked upon Him was wreaked upon Sin. Not 'sins'; they had to be forgiven but Sin cannot be forgiven it must be executed.

Romans 8 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
