10 Reasons Why We Love Muslims

Saw this yesterday on the website of a Christian missions organization called Frontiers... It's a lot to think and pray about!

10 Reasons Why We Love Muslims

1. God loves Muslims!
Muslims are loved by God in the same way that He loves all people. Like all humans, Muslims are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27). Like all humans, Muslims sin and fall short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). Like all humans, God loved them so much that He sent His son, so that those who believe in Jesus will have eternal life (John 3:16).

2. God calls Muslims to Himself!
God designed all of us to seek after Him. That includes Muslims. "From one man, He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth", . . . God did this so men would seek Him and perhaps reach out to Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:24-31, espec. 26,30)." Like you and I, God has placed "eternity in their hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:11)."

3. Muslims are our neighbors.
Whether in America or in the Middle East, the overwhelming majority of Muslims are peace-loving, hospitable people.

4. Muslims are people, too!
Most Muslims are concerned about the same things as you and I. They want to raise their children well, they are concerned about rising crime and pornography, and work hard to pay their bills and survive. Like us, most Muslims decry human suffering and violence between peoples. Many Muslims yearn for peace, friendship, and a happy life. We share the same concerns and needs.

5. God is at work among Muslims!
Many Muslims are sensitive to God and spiritual things. Because they fear God and are aware of spiritual reality, Muslims often speak of how God appeared to them through dreams and visions, just like He did to the God-fearer Cornelius (Acts 10:1-8). Stories abound of healings because of God's power through Jesus. An increasing number of Muslims are hungry to know about God's dramatic work through Jesus.

6. Because we are spiritually related.
Many Muslims look to 'Ibrahim (Abraham) as "our forefather (Romans 4:1)." Since those who follow Jesus call Abraham "the father of all who believe (Romans 4:11)," that makes us 'cousins' ! Like us, Muslims believe in one true God, the Creator of all peoples.

7. Because they value our Holy Book and Jesus.
The Qu'ran specifically commends the Torat (books of the Law, the first five books of the Bible); the Zibur (the Psalms, or wisdom literature); and the injil (the Gospels). Jesus was sent by God to earth; Jesus healed many during his ministry; and he is returning to judge the living and the dead.

8. Because they have something to teach us.
Muslims take the spiritual world very seriously and generally are more open to discuss spiritual issues. They have a very high respect for God and His power. Muslims place a high value on community and loyalty. Hospitality is very important to them. These are qualities that most westerners appreciate in their Muslim friends.

9. God made promises to their ancestors.
Many Muslims look to 'Ibrahim (Abraham) as their ancestor through his first son, Ishmael. God made this promise to Ibrahim: "As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him, and I will make him fruitful, and I will multiply him. He shall become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation (Genesis 17:20)." God fulfilled this promise, for there are over one billion Muslims in the world today!

10. Because God promised that Muslims who follow Jesus will be part of the multitudes who are gathered about the Throne of God.
When God gathers all His people at the end of time, there will be representatives from every people group on the earth, "from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing before the Throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, . . . crying out in a loud voice, 'Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, . . .(Revelation 7:9,10)!"

Re: 10 Reasons Why We Love Muslims

We (the Church) certainly have neglected the Muslim world for a long time. Over 1 billion people, many whom have never heard the gospel. God has used two men, Ayatollah Khomeini and Osama Bin-laden to change all that and awaken us to our neglect. The power of these men and their followers is to kill, our power is to give our lives for them. May God grant us the burden of His heart for the Muslims.

In Christ,

Ron

Dear Ian

It's difficult to love an individual or group of people who you believe have wrong (even demonic) beliefs or practices without condoning what they do or believe.

I suppose the only way is to let the Lord fill us with His burning, uncompromising love for those we meet to whom He sends us, or for whom we are called to pray.

I've found this very difficult - tending to err on the side of compromise - regarding Muslims, and also homosexuals. There was a local Islamic family with whom I became very close; but the Lord showed that I was compromising spiritually and had to withdraw. Also, they were clinging to me instead of seeking my God,(I was helping to care for the sick father - a wonderful old gent whom I grew to love very much).

Islam is a religion that worships one god, as we do, but it IS a false, demonic god, not the true and living God - the God of Israel whose Messiah has become ours. The God who speaks in the Quran is vastly different in character from the God portrayed in the Bible. (The god of the quran is harsh and aloof, without love; but promising the "Faithful" a Paradise full of beautiful women for the men to enjoy)

Islam also curses anyone who says that Jesus is the Son of God. Surely motivated by the "spirit of antichrist that denies both the Father and the Son".

Muslims are no more evil than anyone else without Christ, and many are far more morally upright than some who claim to be Christians.

They are victims of the evil of their religion. But so are nominal Christians who do not know Christ!

Perhaps Islam originated with worship of the Moon God, that was in the Middle East from the time of Abraham (anyone know if that's true?).

Abraham originally came from a region of moon worship, but came out of it. He knew the call of the true God.

Mohammed did not.

 Re:

"God designed all of us to seek after Him. That includes Muslims."

That may have been in God's original design, but didn't the fall obliterate our desire to seek Him. Doesn'nt the Bible teach us that in our natural state, we in fact do not seek Him?

Psa 14:2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, [and] seek God.

Psa 10:4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek [after God]: God [is] not in all his thoughts.

In Him,
C.M.

 Re:

I don't necessarily agree with every word of every point, but the main thrust is that we have an obligation to love all people -Muslims included.

I hate to say it, but I really don't think Jesus would have anything to do with some of the people on this forum sometimes, I can imagine that we'd walk up to him and ask him some tough theological issues and we'd be stupified when he didn't answer with the verses we'd memorized.

Let's get this straight, as far as the teaching of the word was concerned the Pharisees were the number one disciples in history, that's why Jesus said, and I paraphrase, 'you can sit under the teachings of the Pharisees, but don't have anything to do with them otherwise.'

On this forum we know every verse and every arguement from the bible... but we miss the heart too often. Jesus didn't come for the righteous, but for sinners... and who is more sinful than a terrorist!

Half of the church in america is fallen into sin, and the other half has hard hearts and heads full of knowledge... where are the hands and feat of Jesus!

This 'Ten Reasons why' list was from a mission organization that is acting as the hands and feat of Jesus around the world... everyone talks about revival on this forum, well guess what, i found out where the revival is happening!

God has abandoned the American church to a large extent, the people who are experiencing revival are the Chinese house churches, the mission churches in Africa and India, school children in Russia! The only Americans that are partakers of this revival, this working of God tend to be those who are associated with missions.

You know what, I went on a quest for revival and sanctification, and do you know where it lead me, straight out the door into the mission field. Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and DIES! You're not going to die in your comfortable churches and living rooms and restaurants and cars... you've got to get out of your comfort zone and proclaim the Gospel!

It's easy to sit in your church and talk about the theology behind your hatred of Muslims and Homosexuals... but when you get out on the streets of the world and meet them face to face you realize that they are real people, people that Jesus loves!

You are JONAH! You talk about loving people, but you'd rather have God have wrath on them for their sins... you sit back and say 'yeah, we should love muslims and gays and reach out and give them the Gospel.' but Inside you really want them to experience the wrath of God... you don't want to see them come to repentance, you'd rather see them burn in hell for all eternity!

You sinners! Repent! For God so loved the WORLD! You are happy with your 'bless me, bless me, bless me, sanctify me, i want revival' Christianity! You want all the blessing for yourself, but you wouldn't have Jesus share his love with someone from a Muslim background, or with a homosexual orientation!

Repent now, or Jesus will say that he never knew you!
