Online! | I wept much today. | | I wept much today.
I wept for you, and I wept for me.
I wept for those who cannot see.
I wept for the grief of my past,
The joy of my present,
And the hope of my future.
I wept for what the end of the faithless will be;
And I learned from my weeping, there is a decree.
Only eyes washed with tears may truly see.

| Re: I wept much today. | | This reminded me of a story of John Hyde. -- A Master Fisher for Souls by Rev. R. M'Cheyne Patterson
"I was travelling in the train, and a Christian lady ticket-collector met me at W--. She was full of a wonderful man she had seen. He was speaking to a lad seated in a train going to Lahore. The boy was loud and almost abusive. "I am tired of this sort of thing-I am going to my boon companions, and shall have a good time," he said. The the gentleman he was speaking to leant forward and in a low tone begged him not to go away from him. He got back only a rude answer, and she, feeling angry and disgusted, left them. When she came back she saw the missionary still leaning into the carriage window, and she heard him beseeching the lad not to leave him. He was imploring him in Christ's Name, and she saw tears flowing down his cheeks as he reasoned with the head-strong lad. "Ah!" I exclaimed, "he knew the value of an immortal soul." In spite of all entreaties the lad took his own way, but to the very end that missionary was seen in deadly earnest trying to win that soul. She lost sight of the missionary when the down train steamed out. (He went sadly to some dear friends in Gujerat alone). Next day she saw the same lad coming back from Lahore. She said to him, "You have come back very soon again." He looked up with a pale face. "I am going back to him," he replied. "I have not been able to sleep all night-I could not forget his tears." And he came back a penitent. That missionary was John Hyde and that lad J.N. I often feel that is souls could say the same of us, that we wept over them--our tears would bring them to a proper frame of mind. Our Lord's whole body shed tears--when "His sweat became as it were great drops of blood fallind down upon the ground." "Jesus wept." The Jews there said, "Behold, how He loved Him!" Soul-winners, can this be said of each one of us?" |

| Re: I wept much today. | | Brother, What you expressed, reminded me of something Alan penned a while back...The Beauty of Brokeness...thanks for sharing your heart. Dm
The Beauty of Brokenness
O for the beauty of brokenness a treasure of trials sent by God the gift of His crucible's fire the blessing of discipline's rod For muscles are built up by tearing made stronger through intensive pain So faith if it would be found worthy must know severe mercy through pain Our source of salvation through suffering a merciful High Priest was made Subjected to weakness and anguish He groaned and He cried - but obeyed And when through His anguish enduring was come to His fullness complete A sacrifice perfect He offered His head, then His hands, then His feet And wounded and broken and bleeding and gasping for breath lifted high The purest love ever earth witnessed the Righteous One for sinners died And would we be formed to His likeness His image to bear and His name must realize the beauty of brokenness and welcome the blessing of pain

"Soul-winners, can this be said of each one of us?"

A brother sent this to me today, I believe it was his thoughts that penned it. Either way it does speak volumes. Please do share it with more people. Oh God may these truths be found in us. _________________ SI Moderator - Greg Gordon

| Re: I wept much today. | | "God looks upon milions and milions of christians to find one that weeps for souls apart from their own soul. Tell me sir, have you ever wept for anybody elses soul but your own? Tell me, can the devil take and make a ring around you and can he really do it tonight, a circle around you and say: 'Outside of this circle every prayer, every grown, that came from the heart in prayer to God was not for anyone else but himself! And if he prayed for anybody else, it is just because they affected him immediately and it is the only reason that he prayed for anybody else. Every tear that ever wept his eyes and he grown of compassion left his heart was for himself. Outside of the circle Ive never prayed like that for anybody but me. O, God sees tears when you pray and weep for yourself and your own problems, but tell me, since you have been saved from hell and trusted with the Gospel, and inlighted in the knoweledge of the Gospel, how many peoples blood is in your hand sir? How many did you walk passed you didnt even say a prayer for them, you didnt have compassion, you went to bed without blinking an eye without thinking 'I have done anything wrong' though you could have brought people to Christ
. You never growned
