Proverbs 3:1-2"My son, do not foget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of life, and peace they will add to you."I have been digging into Proverbs 3 lately and I am really curious about this. What's the difference between "length of days" and "years of life"? This sounds like exactly the same thing to me- a long life (i.e. lots of days/years). But I'm thinking there's probably more to it. I have a suspicion that one of these phrases is getting more at the quality of life we experience during our days and years. But I don't know for sure and my commentary wasn't really helpful to me. If you have insight here, I would appreciate it.
I'm not replying because I have any insight, I'm as clueless as you are! However, I always thought length of days and years of life were one and the same thing.Still, maybe you'll get an answer who actually knows what they are talking about, unlike myself!God bless.
Hi Todd,I'm not sure exactly what all the words in this verse stand for, but I do know that in Jesus, days-life-peace are all wrapped into one. There is such joy found in Him, that He is the ONLY thing that matters. Praise His Holy Name!
Thanks for your input. I hope there will be someone here that has insight into the actual Hebrew or whatever.
