I am now far away from my home church. However I talk frequently with my mentor, pastor Ted, and when I come back to LA, I stay with him and the family.Last Saturday I talked with him, coz I was so grieved about Pastor Ted Haggard, and he didnt know what had happened, coz he was with his son on a week long field trip. He was out of the loop. When I told him, he was as grieved as I was; this is a man who I have spent countless hours with, in fellowship, friendship, prayer...he sat at my hospital bedside, while I was at deaths door in a bad way...he's my friend, my brother, and we are a small church and just recently, our church posted his sermons, what follows is his sermon that he delievered after the news of Ted Haggard hit the news wires.http://www.hopechristian.com/mp3/110506/sermon.mp3Thank God that Jesus put this man in my life, and I always prayer for my brother, my pastor, my mentor, Ted. How much I love you brother.neil
I really appreciated the idea that "transformation is more then compliance". Also was greatly encouraged about his insistence that churches need to be safe for realness and honesty, or there can be no true repentence and restoration...only pretending. Thanks for the introduction Bartle. Pass on our greetings next time you talk with him!MC
