I'm very curious on where the origin of the Pastor being the 'head' of the church came into existance. And also, their (not mine) scriptural defense in doing this tradition.Does anyone have any insight, please quote some sources, not opinions.
We covered some points here awhile ago. Hope this helps. What Is A Pastor And What Do They Do

A Pastor Teacher is a Shepherd of the sheep. Christ is the true Shepherd of His flock and it is a Pastor teachers responsibility to allow the true Shepherd to lead him to lead what God in Christ has give him to be shepherd over. Not man's seminary training and ordination to have credentials to be "a Pastor". Isa 40:11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry [them] in his bosom, [and] shall gently lead those that are with young. This is our true Shepherd, our Pastor Teacher. Keeping Him as the Head of the Church makes all in the Body of Christ whom ever He gives to be the life and truth of His Church.Hbr 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 1Pe 2:25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. 1Pe 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.Who is our Pastor Shepherd Teacher? Jhn 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my [sheep], and am known of mine. Jhn 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, [and] one shepherd. Who is a pastor? Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some , apostles ; and some, prophets ; and some, evangelists ; and some, pastors and teachers ;Pastors:4166. poimenSearch for G4166 in KJVSLpoimhn poimen poy-mane'of uncertain affinity; a shepherd (literally or figuratively):--shepherd, pastor. In Christ the Chief Shepherd of our souls.Phillip

Thanks, I'll be reading that.
you might also take a look at Biblical Authority As with many of these topics the difficulty lies in trying to come to the topic objectively. We have had so many centuries of 'God blessed' men in formal positions that the tendency is to say 'Does it matter, God blessed them'? My own position is that it does matter but that we must leave each other freedom of conscience in our final decisions.
