| White light during prayer.... | | Sometimes when I pray, I see a flashing white light when my eyes are closed. At first, I thought it was because my eyes weren't closed tight enough. But closing them tighter didn't stop it. Then, I thought I was going crazy. I was just seeing things. Maybe I was just seeing the Halo from the light??? However, that doesn't explain why I only started seeing it after I was saved. Also, this happens after my eyes have been closed for a long time.
Recently, several other people I know have said the same thing happens to them. They also see a white light when they pray.
I am curious....does anyone else see this light? _________________ Blake Kidney

| Re: White light during prayer.... | | Brother,
Concerning this, I have not had the light when my eyes were closed. Though I have seen a light just last night in a bible study when my eyes were opened. It was a flash in my left eye.
Do some fasting and prayer on this Brother. Ask it to be revealed by the Lord. If it is not of GOD and it is Satan trying to waver you from prayer, cast him off with Christ's Holy all powerful name.

| Re: White light during prayer.... | | When was the last time you had your blood pressure or sugar checked?
Not making light of this, but I dont think this is anything that needs to be over spiritualized.

| Re: White light during prayer.... | | I have had my sugar checked a few months ago. This is not a sugar level thing. It is not the same. This light is different.
The light doesn't keep me from prayer, and is not harmful in any way. It doesn't bring about any negative thoughts or feelings. The light neither has a definition or shape and is really not like light at all. Rather, it is difficult to explain. It is like everything goes white for a brief moment, a bright, bright white as if something of immense intensity has swept by. It is not like lightning, and yet, lightning is the only thing like it.
I cannot explain it very well. I know that I am not crazy, and it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I have grown to appreciate it.
I just wanted to know if anyone else has shared this experience. If you do, that's great. And if you don't, that's great.
I was just curious.

| Re: | | While I would be one of the first to be careful of these sort of things, I too have even quite recently had this happen. It was so bright and quick, that I thought someone was outside my study window with a camera. Also with me, it is when my eyes are closed. I do not want to make any more of this than what it is, just wanted to say you guys aren't alone. 8-) _________________ patrick heaviside

| Re: | | My experience was a bit different. I had just finished prayer and when I had my head lifted I saw the flash in my left eye. Like something passing by. It was inside a building in a room with no windows. It was different from the lighting as you said but the only way to describe it is like passing by a bright light. It moved fast but not too fast for me to notice it.
Just pray about whatever it is. Even if it were to be sugar levels, the Lord is always the one to seek out with our concerns over all else.

| Re: Light | | Well beenblake,
The study of light in the Scripture, and the brightness of God's glory at the transfiguration, certainly are exciting thoughts, however in prayer the division between this world and the next is not viewed by our physical eye. To see spiritually....
The entrance of thy word bringeth LIGHT!
I must say your words have got me all excited to spend sometime tommorrow in silent prayer before the Lord, perhaps I shall begin right now.
Jesus has made it so easy for us, to go boldly into the presense of our Pappa.

| Re: | | Like Krispy, I am not trying to underspiritualize anything, but I also don't think we should overspiritualize things. I am a Doctor of Optometry student, so this is an interesting topic to me. I do not know of any scriptures that would support a flashing light during prayer. So while I'm not trying to discredit any experience, there could be some medical issues at stake here. So if you don't mind, I would like to ask a few questions:
1. how long has this been happening? 2. does it only happen during prayer, or has it happened at other times your eyes have been closed? 3. has it ever happened while your eyes have been open? 4. does the light move? how and where does it move? 5. do you ever see spots or flashes of light? halos around lights? 6. when was your last comprehensive eye exam?
if you wish not to divulge such information, that's fine, just curious. Like I said, this could be medical.

============
1. Since I was saved 2 years ago.
2. It only happens during prayer, but not during every prayer. I only notice it at night, when the lights are out, and I close my eyes. On occasion, I will see a flash of light. Come to think of it, when this happens my thoughts are also quieted. Hmmm....forgot about that.
3. No.
4. No. It does not move. It is more like a flash. Like a flash of lightning, or a flash from a camera.
5. There have been times I have seen spots, but this only occurs when I stand up too quickly after sitting in an awkward position.
6. I don't remember???
Hope this helps,

Only within the last seven or eight months that I can remeber. 2. Only during prayer, and not all the time. 3. No 4. No moving light, just a flash, very bright, very quick. 5. Sometimes stars from standing quickly, othet than that nothing. 6. 1 1/2 years ago. :-D _________________ patrick heaviside
