 Re: Emergent Church

Ahh yes, the "Emerging Church," closely linked with the "House Church Movement." It's supposedly adjusting to the "post-modern" times and therefore it's methodology is "up to date" with the times. I believe though it very strongly has put down God's word as the final authority and has relaxed God's requirements for a holy life. This can be seen through reading some of the "Emerging" church "works," such as "Blue Like Jazz."

It degrades Jesus, his atonement.

It degrades God, in his holiness, glory, majesty, authority, and sovereignty.

The emerging church is also aligned with the "seeker-friendly" church movement. Or, the "come-to-church" evangelism.

IMO, that does the church a huge disservice, as it brings the world into the church, instead of focusing the church to go out into the world.

For, the first church was not an inclusive church, it was an exclusive church. I do believe unsaved folk that are desiring to know God should be invited to church, but otherwise inviting habitual sinners is unsafe and unwise IMO.

 Re:

I would also like to say that I have seen countless churches fall prey to this. My old pastor said this past summer, "A pastor told me that I need to give this emerging church thing a shot, it's the new thing. I said your exactly right."

It was in a two-thousand member congregation, and that pastor just dethroned God by doing so. That pastor that told him this came the following sunday and preached, on what, you ask?

"Lessons from Desperate Housewives"

What an abomination. He watched this filthy tv-show to do a sermon on it, which I can't believe-- and he even showed a clip from it. (If you don't know it's pretty much about lust, adultery, etc.)

The lessons were somewhat even biblical, but there was an aura of Truth that was missing completely. An aura of brokenness, of anguish.

 Re:

Good post jordanamo. Sickening in a grievous sort of way but good.

There HAS to be TRUTH mixed in and even if it's just 1% arsenic, it can kill.

But that's what makes these days all the harder to keep it tight ... the truth is being diluted to an almost unrecognizable to error degree.
Tough stuff.

Thanks brother.
