| Re: Today, I'm praising God for... | | ... good brethren in Christ
O love of God, how strong and true! Eternal, and yet ever new; Uncomprehended and unbought, Beyond all knowledge and all thought.
O love of God, how deep and great! Far deeper than mans deepest hate; Self fed, self kindled, like the light, Changeless, eternal, infinite.
O heavenly love, how precious still, In days of weariness and ill, In nights of pain and helplessness, To heal, to comfort, and to bless!
O wide embracing, wondrous love! We read thee in the sky above, We read thee in the earth below, In seas that swell, and streams that flow.
We read thee best in Him who came To bear for us the cross of shame; Sent by the Father from on high, Our life to live, our death to die.
We read thy power to bless and save, Een in the darkness of the grave; Still more in resurrection light, We read the fullness of thy might.
O love of God, our shield and stay Through all the perils of our way! Eternal love, in thee we rest Forever safe, forever blest.

John 11:21 - 27, 38 - 46 Then said Martha unto Jesus, 'Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.' Jesus saith unto her, 'Thy brother shall rise again'. Martha saith unto him, 'I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day'. Jesus said unto her, 'I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?' She saith unto him, 'Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world'.
Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. Jesus said, 'Take ye away the stone'. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, 'Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days'. Jesus saith unto her, 'Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?'
Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, 'Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me'. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come forth'. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, 'Loose him, and let him go'. Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.
But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.

All praise to our redeeming Lord Who joins us by His grace, And bids us, each to each restored, Together seek His face.
He bids us build each other up, Amd, gathered into one, To our high calling's hope We hand in hand go on.
The gift which He on one bestows We all delight to prove, The grace through every vessel flows In purest streams of love.
Even now we speak, and think the same, And cordially agree, Concentred all through Jesu's Name In perfect harmony.
We all partake the joy of one, The common peace we feel, A peace to sensual minds unkonwn, A joy unspeakable,
And if our fellowship below In Jesus be so sweet, What height of rapture shall we know When round His throune we meet!

Acts 2:38 - 47 Then Peter said unto them, 'Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.' And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, 'Save yourselves from this untoward generation'.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
Acts 20:22 - 38 [Paul said] 'And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more. Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive".'
And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all. And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him, sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.

| Re: Today, I'm praising God for ... | | ... the anointing of the Holy Spirit
Thy hand, O God, has guided Thy flock from age to age; The wondrous tale is written, Full clear, on every page; Our fathers owned Thy goodness, And we their deeds record; And both of this bear witness, One Church, one Faith, one Lord.
Thy heralds brought glad tidings, To greatest, as to least; They bade men rise, and hasten To share the great Kings feast; And this was all their teaching, In every deed and word, To all alike proclaiming, One Church, one Faith, one Lord.
Through many a day of darkness, Through many a scene of strife, The faithful few fought bravely, To guard the nations life, Their Gospel of redemption, Sin pardoned, man restored, Was all in this enfolded, One Church, one Faith, one Lord.
And we, shall we be faithless? Shall hearts fail, hands hang down? Shall we evade the conflict, And cast away our crown? Not so: in Gods deep counsels Some better thing is stored: We will maintain, unflinching, One Church, one Faith, one Lord.
Thy mercy will not fail us, Nor leave Thy work undone; With Thy right hand to help us, The victory shall be won; And then, by men and angels, Thy Name shall be adored, And this shall be their anthem, One Church, one Faith, one Lord.

John 17:15 - 26 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
John 18:1 - 8 When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples. And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.
Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons. Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, 'Whom seek ye?' They answered him, 'Jesus of Nazareth'. Jesus saith unto them, 'I am he'. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. As soon then as he had said unto them, 'I am he', they went backward, and fell to the ground.
Then asked he them again, 'Whom seek ye?' And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus answered, 'I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way': that the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, "Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none".

| Re: Today, I'm praising God for ... | | ... His grace and His word in my mouth
Meet and right it is to praise God, The giver of all grace, God, whose mercies are bestowed On the evil and the good; He prevents His creatures' call, Kind and merciful to all; Makes His sun on sinners rise, Showers His blessings from the skies.
Least of all thy creatures, we Daily Thy salvation see; As by heavenly manna fed, Through a world of dangers led; Through a wilderness of cares; Through ten thousand thousand snares, More than now our hearts conceive, More than we could know, and live!
By our bososm-foe beset, Taken in the fowler's net, Passion's unresisting prey Oft within the toils we lay: Sleeping on the brink of sin, Tophet gaped to take us in; Mercy to our rescue flew, Broke the snare, and brought us through.
Here, as in the lion's den, Undevoured we still remain; Pass secure the watery flood, Hanging on the arm of God; Here we raise our voices higher, Shout in the refiner's fire, Clap our hands amidst the flame, Glory give to Jesu's name.
Jesu's name in Satan's hour Stands our adamantine tower; Jesus doth his own defend, Love, and save us to the end. Love shall make us persevere Till our conquering Lord appear, Bear us to our thrones above, Crown us with His heavenly love.

Psalm 124 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say; If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us: Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us: Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.
Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Romans 1;15 - 25 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, 'The just shall live by faith'. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
1 Corinthians 1:18 - 31 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, 'I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent'. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: but we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; but unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; and base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: that no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: that, according as it is written, 'He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord'.

'Tis the church triumphant singing Worthy the Lamb; Heaven throughout with praises ringing Worthy the Lamb, Thrones and powers before Him bending, Odours sweet with voice ascending Swell the chorus never-ending, Worthy the Lamb!
Every kindred, tongue and nation, Worthy the Lamb, Join to sing the great salvation, Worthy the Lamb, Loud as mighty thunders roaring, Floods of mighty waters pouring, Prostrate at His feet adoring, Worthy the Lamb!
Harps and songs for ever sounding Worthy the Lamb; Mighty grace o'er sin abounding, Worthy the Lamb, By His blood He dearly bought us: Wand'ring from the fold He sought us, And to glory safely brought us: Worthy the Lamb!
Sing with blest anticipation Worthy the Lamb; Through the vale of tribulation, Worthy the Lamb, Sweetest notes, all notes excelling, On the theme for ever dwelling, Still untold though ever telling, Worthy the Lamb!
Tune: Worthy the Lamb http://www.hymnal.net/cgi-bin/hymns/hymn.php?t=h&n=181
Colossians 2 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; that their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, ('touch not; taste not; handle not; which all are to perish with the using';) after the commandments and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

The Lords my Shepherd, Ill not want. He makes me down to lie In pastures green; He leadeth me The quiet waters by.
My soul He doth restore again; And me to walk doth make Within the paths of righteousness, Even for His own Names sake.
Yea, though I walk in deaths dark vale, Yet will I fear no ill; For Thou art with me; and Thy rod And staff my comfort still.

Goodness and mercy all my life Shall surely follow me; And in Gods house forevermore My dwelling place shall be.

| Re: Today, I'm praising God for ... | | ... the daily wonder of the illumination of the Holy Spirit
I cannot tell why He whom angels worship, Should set His love upon the sons of men, Or why, as Shepherd, He should seek the wanderers, To bring them back, they know not how or when. But this I know, that He was born of Mary When Bethlehems manger was His only home, And that He lived at Nazareth and labored, And so the Savior, Savior of the world is come.
I cannot tell how silently He suffered, As with His peace He graced this place of tears, Or how His heart upon the cross was broken, The crown of pain to three and thirty years. But this I know, He heals the brokenhearted, And stays our sin, and calms our lurking fear, And lifts the burden from the heavy laden, For yet the Savior, Savior of the world is here.
I cannot tell how He will win the nations, How He will claim His earthly heritage, How satisfy the needs and aspirations Of east and west, of sinner and of sage. But this I know, all flesh shall see His glory, And He shall reap the harvest He has sown, And some glad day His sun shall shine in splendor When He the Savior, Savior of the world is known.
I cannot tell how all the lands shall worship, When, at His bidding, every storm is stilled, Or who can say how great the jubilation When all the hearts of men with love are filled. But this I know, the skies will thrill with rapture, And myriad, myriad human voices sing, And earth to Heaven, and Heaven to earth, will answer: At last the Savior, Savior of the world is King!

Revelation 5:9 - 14 And they sung a new song, saying, 'Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; and hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth'.
And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; saying with a loud voice, 'Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing'.
And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, 'Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever'.
And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

| Re: Today, I'm praising God for ... | | ... fellowship with saints in light
Christians, awake, salute the happy morn Whereon the Savior of the world was born. Rise to adore the mystery of love Which hosts of angels chanted from above, With them the joyful tidings first begun Of God incarnate and the virgins Son.
Then to the watchful shepherds it was told, Who heard thangelic heralds voice, Behold, I bring good tidings of a Saviors birth To you and all the nations of the earth; This day hath God fulfilled His promised Word; This day is born a Savior, Christ the Lord.
He spoke; and straightaway the celestial choir In hymns of joy, unknown before, conspire; The praises of redeeming love they sang, And Heavns whole orb with alleluias rang. Gods highest glory was their anthem still, Peace on the earth and unto men good will.
To Bethlhem straight thenlightened shepherds ran To see the wonder God had wrought for man And found, with Joseph and the blessèd maid, Her Son, the Savior, in a manger laid; Then to their flocks, still praising God, return, And their glad hearts with holy rapture burn.
Like Mary let us ponder in our mind Gods wondrous love in saving lost mankind! Trace we the Babe, who hath retrieved our loss, From His poor manger to His bitter cross, Tread in His steps, assisted by His grace, Till mans first heavnly state again takes place.
Then may we hope, thangelic hosts among, To sing, redeemed, a glad triumphal song. He that was born upon this joyful day Around us all His glory shall display. Saved by His love, incessant we shall sing Eternal praise to Heavns almighty King.

John 20:1 - 16 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, 'They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him'. Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, and the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
Then the disciples went away again unto their own home. But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, and seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. And they say unto her, 'Woman, why weepest thou'? She saith unto them, 'Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him'. And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus saith unto her, 'Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou'? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, 'Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away'. Jesus saith unto her, 'Mary'.
