| Re: | | Actually this happened yesterday or two days ago. But, it is worth remembering. :-)
I have my main bible which is falling apart, so I was wondering which bible version I should buy. The weeks and months went by knowing that I had to replace my old bible one day. If it wasn't for the cover with zipper I have around my bible I would have lost parts of my old bible already.
Then someday, I went to the caretaker at my school and asked if they sold bibles. He said he didn't sell any. I was a bit disappointed, and I explained that I thought he might have some as they had various books for sale on the shelves. Then he opened a closet and handed me over an almost new bible. I was surprised that I got the same version back, although this one was almost new. :-)
I thank God for giving me a copy of His word for free! That I may also read this book so much that I need to replace it soon again. :-P _________________ Jonathan Veldhuis

2 Corinthians 1:3 - 12 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation. For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life.
Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many.
For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you.
Not I, but Christ, be honored, loved, exalted; Not I, but Christ, be seen, be known, be heard; Not I, but Christ, in every look and action, Not I, but Christ, in every thought and word.
Not I, but Christ, to gently soothe in sorrow, Not I, but Christ, to wipe the falling tear; Not I, but Christ, to lift the weary burden, Not I, but Christ, to hush away all fear.
Christ, only Christ! no idle words eer falling, Christ, only Christ; no needless bustling sound; Christ, only Christ; no self important bearing; Christ, only Christ; no trace of I be found.
Not I, but Christ, my every need supplying, Not I, but Christ, my strength and health to be; Not I, but Christ, for body, soul, and spirit, Christ, only Christ, here and eternally.

| Re: Today, I'm praising God for ... | | ... much practical progress
My heart is full of Christ, and longs Its glorious matter to declare! Of Him I make my loftiest songs, I cannot from His praise forbear; My ready tongue makes haste to sing The glories of my heavenly King.
Fairer than all the earth-born race, Perfect in comeliness Thou art; Replenished are Thy lips with grace, And full of love Thy tender heart: God ever blest! we bow the knee, And own all fullness dwells in Thee.
Gird on Thy thigh the Spirits sword, And take to Thee Thy power divine; Stir up Thy strength, almighty Lord, All power and majesty are Thine: Assert Thy worship and renown; O all redeeming God, come down!
Come, and maintain Thy righteous cause, And let Thy glorious toil succeed; Dispread the victory of Thy cross, Ride on, and prosper in Thy deed; Through earth triumphantly ride on, And reign in every heart alone.
Sharp are the arrows of Thy love, And pierce the most obdurate heart: Their point Thine enemies shall prove, And, strangely filled with pleasing smart, Fall down before the cross subdued, And feel Thine arrows dipped in blood.
Lover Thou art of purity, And hatest every spot of sin: Nothing profane can dwell with Thee, Nothing unholy or unclean; And therefore doth Thy Father own His glorious likeness in His Son.
Therefore He hath His Spirit shed, Spirit of joy, and power and grace, Immeasurably on Thy head: First-born of all the chosen race, From Thee the sacred unction springs That makes Thy fellows priests and kings.
Are not His servants kings? And rule They not o'er hell, and earth, and sin? His daughter is divinely full Of Christ, and "glorious all within"; All glorious inwardly she reigns, And not one spot of sin remains.

Psalm 8 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens!
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: all sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; the fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

| Re: Today, I'm praising God for ... | | ... the friendship of His people, galvanised by the witness of the Holy Spirit
Spirit of faith, come down, Reveal the things of God, And make to us the Godhead known, And witness with the blood. Tis Thine the blood to apply And give us eyes to see, Who did for every sinner die Hath surely died for me.
No man can truly say That Jesus is the Lord, Unless Thou take the veil away And breathe the living Word. Then, only then, we feel Our interest in His blood, And cry with joy unspeakable, Thou art my Lord, my God!
I know my Saviour lives, He lives, who died for me, My inmost soul His voice receives Who hangs on yonder tree: Set forth before my eyes Even now I see Him bleed, And hear His mortal groans and cries While suffering in my stead.
O that the world might know The all atoning Lamb! Spirit of faith, descend and show The virtue of His Name; The grace which all may find, The saving power, impart, And testify to all mankind, And speak in every heart.
Inspire the living faith (Which whosoe'er receive, The witness in themselves they have And consciously believe), The faith that conquers all, And doth the mountain move, And saves whoever on Jesus call, And perfects them in love.

1 Corinthians 12:1 - 13 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.
There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body -- whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free -- and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

| Re: Today, I'm praising God for ... | | ... more of His grace and His wisdom
See, Jesus, Thy disciples see, The promised blessing give! Met in Thy Name, we look to Thee, Expecting, to receive.
Thee we expect, our faithful Lord, Who in Thy Name are joined; We wait, according to Thy Word, Thee in the midst to find.
With us Thou art assembled here, But O Thyself reveal! Son of the living God, appear! Let us Thy presence feel.
Breathe on us, Lord, in this our day, And these dry bones shall live; Speak peace into our hearts, and say, The Holy Ghost receive!
Whom now we seek, O may we meet! Jesus, the Crucified, Show us Thy bleeding hands and feet, Thou Who for us hast died.
Cause us the record to receive, Speak, and the tokens show; O be not faithless, but believe In Me, who died for you!

Philippians 4:1 - 14 Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.
I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.
And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy -- meditate on these things.
The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress.

All hail the power of Jesus Name! Let angels prostrate fall; Let angels prostrate fall; Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown Him, crown Him, Crown Him, crown Him And crown Him Lord of all.
Crown Him, ye martyrs of your God, Who from His altar call; Who from His altar call; Extol the Stem of Jesses Rod, And crown Him, crown Him And crown Him Lord of all.
Ye seed of Israels chosen race, Ye ransomed from the fall, Ye ransomed from the fall, Hail Him Who saves you by His grace, And crown Him, crown Him And crown Him Lord of all.
Sinners, whose love can neer forget The wormwood and the gall, The wormwood and the gall, Go spread your trophies at His feet, And crown Him, crown Him And crown Him Lord of all.
Let every tribe and every tongue Before Him prostrate fall Before Him prostrate fall And shout the everlasting song And crown Him, crown Him And crown Him Lord of all.
O that, with yonder sacred throng, We at His feet may fall, We at His feet may fall, Join in the everlasting song, And crown Him, crown Him And crown Him Lord of all,

Philippians 2:1 - 18 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross.
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.

... His whispers in my heart
Would Jesus have the sinner die? Why hangs He then on yonder tree? What means that strange expiring cry? Sinners, He prays for you and me, Sinners, He prays for you and me. "Forgive them, Father, O forgive, They know not that by Me they live! They know not that by Me they live! "Forgive them, Father, O forgive, They know not that by Me they live! They know not that by Me they live!"
He prays for those that shed His blood: And who from Jesus' blood is pure? Who hath not crucified his God? Whose sins did not His death procure? Whose sins did not His death procure? If all have sinned through Adam's fall Our second Adam died for all, Our second Adam died for all. If all have sinned through Adam's fall Our second Adam died for all, Our second Adam died for all.
Adam descended from above Our loss of Eden to retrieve, Great God of universal love, If all the world in Thee may live If all the world in Thee may live, In us a quickening Spirit be And witness, Thou hast died for me And witness, Thou hast died for me In us a quickening Spirit be And witness, Thou hast died for me, And witness, Thou hast died for me.

(The hymn words to be continued tomorrow.)
Luke 9:29 - 31, 51 - 53 As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening. And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. But they did not receive Him, because His face was set] for the journey to Jerusalem.
Mark 10:32 - 40 Now they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was going before them; and they were amazed. And as they followed they were afraid. Then He took the twelve aside again and began to tell them the things that would happen to Him: "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him to the Gentiles; and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again."
Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, "Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask." And He said to them, "What do you want Me to do for you?" They said to Him, "Grant us that we may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on Your left, in Your glory."
But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able." So Jesus said to them, "You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and with the baptism I am baptized with you will be baptized; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared."
Luke 12:49, 50 " I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!
But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished!
Luke 22:7, 15 Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be killed.
Then He said to them, "With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God."
1 Corinthians 15:42 - 50 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.

Dear, loving, all-atoning Lamb, Thee by Thy painful agony, Thy bloody sweat, Thy grief and shame, Thy cross and passion on the tree, Thy cross and passion on the tree, Thy precious death, and life, I pray - Take all, take all my sins away! Take all, take all my sins away! Thy precious death, and life, I pray - Take all, take all my sins away! Take all, take all my sins away!
O let me kiss Thy bleeding feet And bathe and wash them with my tears, The story of Thy love repeat In every drooping sinner's ears, In every drooping sinner's ears, That all may hear the quickening sound If I, even I, have mercy found, If I, even I, have mercy found. That all may hear the quickening sound If I, even I, have mercy found, If I, even I, have mercy found.
O let Thy love my heart constrain, Thy love for every sinner free, That every fallen soul of man May taste the grace that found out me, May taste the grace that found out me; That all mankind, with me, may prove Thy sovereign, everlasting love, Thy sovereign, everlasting love. That all mankind, with me, may prove Thy sovereign, everlasting love, Thy sovereign, everlasting love.

Luke 7:36 - 50 Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee's house, and sat down to eat. And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.
Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, "This man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner." And Jesus answered and said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." So he said, "Teacher, say it."
"There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?" Simon answered and said, "I suppose the one whom he forgave more." And He said to him, "You have rightly judged."
Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." Then He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."
And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" Then He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."
