(NKJV) 1 Thessalonians 5:1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as others but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake.
Be at peace among yourselves.
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.
See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Do not quench the Spirit.
Do not despise prophecies.
Test all things; hold fast what is good.
Abstain from every form of evil.
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
Brethren, pray for us. Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.
I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought Since Jesus came into my heart! I have light in my soul for which long I had sought, Since Jesus came into my heart!
Refrain
Since Jesus came into my heart, Since Jesus came into my heart, Floods of joy oer my soul Like the sea billows roll, Since Jesus came into my heart.
I have ceased from my wandering and going astray, Since Jesus came into my heart! And my sins, which were many, are all washed away, Since Jesus came into my heart!
Refrain
Im possessed of a hope that is steadfast and sure, Since Jesus came into my heart! And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure, Since Jesus came into my heart!
Refrain
Theres a light in the valley of death now for me, Since Jesus came into my heart! And the gates of the City beyond I can see, Since Jesus came into my heart!
Refrain
I shall go there to dwell in that City, I know, Since Jesus came into my heart! And Im happy, so happy, as onward I go, Since Jesus came into my heart!

| Re: Today, I'm praising God for ... | | ... being such a great Friend!..... and He knows how long it's taken me to be able to say that, but, it really is true now... :-)
(Young) 2 Thessalonians 2 And we ask you, brethren, in regard to the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of our gathering together unto him, that ye be not quickly shaken in mind, nor be troubled, neither through spirit, neither through word, neither through letters as through us, as that the day of Christ hath arrived; let not any one deceive you in any manner, because--if the falling away may not come first, and the man of sin be revealed--the son of the destruction, who is opposing and is raising himself up above all called God or worshipped, so that he in the sanctuary of God as God hath sat down, shewing himself off that he is God--[the day doth not come].
Do ye not remember that, being yet with you, these things I said to you? and now, what is keeping down ye have known, for his being revealed in his own time, for the secret of the lawlessness doth already work, only he who is keeping down now [will hinder] -- till he may be out of the way, and then shall be revealed the Lawless One, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the manifestation of his presence, whose presence is according to the working of the Adversary, in all power, and signs, and lying wonders, and in all deceitfulness of the unrighteousness in those perishing, because the love of the truth they did not receive for their being saved, and because of this shall God send to them a working of delusion, for their believing the lie, that they may be judged -- all who did not believe the truth, but were well pleased in the unrighteousness.
And we--we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved by the Lord, that God did choose you from the beginning to salvation, in sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth, to which He did call you through our good news, to the acquiring of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ; so, then, brethren, stand ye fast, and hold the deliverances that ye were taught, whether through word, whether through our letter; and may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and our God and Father, who did love us, and did give comfort age-during, and good hope in grace, comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.
To Christ, the Lord, let every tongue Its noblest tribute bring When Hes the subject of the song, Who can refuse to sing? Who can refuse to sing?
Survey the beauties of His face, And on His glories dwell; Think of the wonders of His grace, And all His triumphs tell. And all His triumphs tell.
Majestic sweetness sits enthroned Upon the Saviour's brow; His head with radiant glories crowned, His lips with grace over flow. His lips with grace over flow.
No mortal can with him compare, Among the sons of men; Fairer is he than all the fair That fill the heavenly train. That fill the heavenly train.
He saw me plunged in deep distress, He flew to my relief; For me he bore the shameful cross, And carried all my grief. And carried all my grief.
His hand a thousand blessings pours Upon my guilty head: (Not keen on this line - but 1 John 1:8....) His presence gilds my darkest hours, And guards my sleeping bed. And guards my sleeping bed.
To him I owe my life and breath, And all the joys I have; He makes me triumph over death, And saves me from the grave. And saves me from the grave.
To heav'n, the place of his abode, He brings my weary feet; Shows me the glories of my God, And makes my joys complete. And makes my joys complete.
Since from his bounty I receive Such proofs of love divine, Had I a thousand hearts to give, Lord, they should all be thine. Lord, they should all be thine.

| Re: Today, I'm praising God for... | | ... encouragements to my soul in the development of new relationships with non-Christians.
(NKJV) 2 Thessalonians 3:1 - 16 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run and be glorified, just as with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.
But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard from the evil one. And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you. Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.
But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you; nor did we eat anyone's bread free of charge, but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us. For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.
For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread. But you, brethren, do not grow weary [in] doing good. And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.
O Jesus, my Savior, I know thou art mine, For thee all the pleasures of sin I resign; Of objects most pleasing, I love thee the best, Without thee I'm wretched, but with thee I'm blest.
Thy Spirit first taught me to know I was blind, Then taught me the way of salvation to find; And when I was sinking in gloomy despair, Thy mercy relieved me, and bid me not fear.
In vain I attempt to describe what I feel, The language of mortals or angels would fail; My Jesus is precious, my soul's in a flame, I'm raised to a rapture while praising his name.
I find him in singing, I find him in prayer, In sweet meditation he always is near; My constant companion, O may we ne'er part! All glory to Jesus, he dwells in my heart.
I love thee, my Savior, I love thee, my Lord, I love thy dear people, thy ways, and thy word; With tender emotion I love sinners too, Since Jesus has died to redeem them from woe.
My Jesus is precious--I cannot forbear, Though sinners despise me, his love to declare; His love overwhelms me; had I wings I'd fly To praise him in mansions prepared in the sky.
Then millions of ages my soul would employ In praising my Jesus, my love and my joy Without interruption, when all the glad throng With pleasures unceasing unite in the song.

| Re: Today, I'm praising God for ... | | ... a new layer of healing - something completely different and unexpected - but necessary - and the awesome way God keeps us till we're ready for the next step.
(NKJV) Ephesians 5:22 - 33 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord the church.
For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
My faith looks up to Thee, Thou Lamb of Calvary, Savior divine! Now hear me while I pray, Take all my guilt away, O let me from this day Be wholly thine!
May thy rich grace impart Strength to my fainting heart, My zeal inspire! As thou hast died for me, O may my love to thee Pure, warm, and changeless be, A living fire!
While life's dark maze I tread, And griefs around me spread, Be thou my guide; Bid darkness turn to day, Wipe sorrow's tears away, Nor let me ever stray From thee aside.
When ends life's transient dream, When death's cold, sullen stream Shall o'er me roll; Blest Savior, then in love, Fear and distrust remove; O bear me safe above, A ransomed soul!

| Re: Today, I'm praising God for ... | | ... the leading of His Spirit and a very clear answer to a rather vague prayer... praise His Name! 8-)
Psalm 105 (NKJV) Psalm 105 1 Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! 2 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works! 3 Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD! 4 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore! 5 Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth, 6 O seed of Abraham His servant, You children of Jacob, His chosen ones! 7 He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth. 8 He remembers His covenant forever, The word He commanded, for a thousand generations, 9 [The covenant] which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac, 10 And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel an everlasting covenant, 11 Saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan As the allotment of your inheritance," 12 When they were few in number, Indeed very few, and strangers in it. 13 When they went from one nation to another, From one kingdom to another people, 14 He permitted no one to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes, 15 Saying, "Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm." 16 Moreover He called for a famine in the land; He destroyed all the provision of bread. 17 He sent a man before them -- Joseph -- who was sold as a slave. 18 They hurt his feet with fetters, He was laid in irons. 19 Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the LORD tested him. 20 The king sent and released him, The ruler of the people let him go free. 21 He made him lord of his house, And ruler of all his possessions, 22 To bind his princes at his pleasure, And teach his elders wisdom. 23 Israel also came into Egypt, And Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. 24 He increased His people greatly, And made them stronger than their enemies.
Jesus, Jesus Holy and anointed One Jesus
Jesus, Jesus Risen and exalted One Jesus
Your name is like honey on my lips Your Spirit like water to my soul Your Word is a lamp unto my feet Jesus, I love you, I love you

| Re: Today, I'm praising God for ... | | ... His speaking to me from His written word, and His continuous presence by the Spirit.
The Church's one foundation Is Jesus Christ her Lord, She is His new creation By water and the Word. From heaven He came and sought her To be His holy bride; With His own blood He bought her, And for her life He died.
Elect from every nation, Yet one o'er all the earth; Her charter of salvation, One Lord, one faith, one birth; One holy Name she blesses, Partakes one holy food, And to one hope she presses, With every grace endued.
Though with a scornful wonder We see her sore oppressed, By schisms rent asunder, By heresies distressed, Yet saints their watch are keeping; Their cry goes up, "How long?" And soon the night of weeping Shall be the morn of song.
Mid toil and tribulation, And tumult of her war, She waits the consummation Of peace forevermore; Till, with the vision glorious, Her longing eyes are blessed, And the great church victorious Shall be the church at rest.
Yet she on earth hath union With God the Three in One, And mystic sweet communion With those whose rest is won. O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we Like them, the meek and lowly, On high may dwell with Thee.

For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (NKJV) 1 Corinthians 3:11
And He put all under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Ephesians 1:22, 23.
Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted the Lord is gracious. Coming to Him - a living stone - rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:1 - 5

At Your feet we fall, mighty risen Lord, as we come before Your throne to worship You. By Your Spirits power You now draw our hearts, and we hear Your voice in triumph ringing clear:
I am He that liveth, that liveth and was dead. Behold I am alive for evermore.
There we see You stand, mighty risen Lord, clothed in garments pure and holy, shining bright; eyes of flashing fire, feet like burnished bronze, and the sound of many waters is Your voice,
I am He that liveth that liveth and was dead. Behold I am alive for evermore.
Like the shining sun in its noon-day strength, we now see the glory of Your wondrous face: once that face was marred, but now Youre glorified; and Your words, like a two-edged sword have mighty power.
I am He that liveth that liveth and was dead. Behold I am alive for evermore.

(KJV) Revelation 1 9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; 13 and in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; 15 and his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me,
'Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter';

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the cross; Lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss. From victory unto victory His army shall He lead, Till every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.
Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the solemn watchword hear; If while ye sleep He suffers, away with shame and fear; Whereer ye meet with evil, within you or without, Charge for the God of battles, and put the foe to rout.
Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the trumpet call obey; Forth to the mighty conflict, in this His glorious day. Ye that are brave now serve Him against unnumbered foes; Let courage rise with danger, and strength to strength oppose.
Stand up, stand up for Jesus, stand in His strength alone; The arm of flesh will fail you, ye dare not trust your own. Put on the Gospel armor, each piece put on with prayer; Where duty calls or danger, be never wanting there.
Stand up, stand up for Jesus, each soldier to his post, Close up the broken column, and shout through all the host: Make good the loss so heavy, in those that still remain, And prove to all around you that death itself is gain.
Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the strife will not be long; This day the noise of battle, the next the victors song. To those who vanquish evil a crown of life shall be; They with the King of Glory shall reign eternally.

(NASB) Luke 4:13 - 21 When the devil had finished every temptation, he left Him until an opportune time.
And Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about Him spread through all the surrounding district. And He began teaching in their synagogues and was praised by all.
And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written,
"THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED, TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD."
And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them,
"Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."
