| Re: | | The election is coming fast so let the christians guard their hearts. To easily get hysterical and readily raise our voices to decry and reprobate anybody will hardly do us any good. Inflammatory remarks and damnation would only harass our own souls. At times we easily commend anybody, only to realize that we are trouncing the same person the next day.
Do we not remember how Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Daniel, Nehemiah behaved before the kings and emperors. Though they know that God had so favored them, yet they have not acted rudely before the dignitaries but treated them with honor and courtesy.
While the Lord is bringing His counsel to pass, let us bear patiently till the iniquity of His enemies is full.

| Re: | | bear,
If the hurricane killed Mitt Romney, I might ponder the theological implications of such a storm. But being that the storm will probably do nothing more than blow a few things over and cause a headache for a few people, I don't see any sort of prophetic significance. And I don't think speculating about such is helpful. If you have a word from the Lord, share it and let the church discern. But if you don't, then you should probably be silent.
If any man speaks, let him speak as the oracle of God.

| Re: | | I sort of wish the storm would come closer to Florida. I am in Central Florida and would like to see heavier winds. Just adds to the excited of the weather for my tastes. I have a small weather fetish and these storms get exciting. Got through the 3 hurricanes back in 2004 and the only damage I had was 2 wooden fencing panels falling apart.
I find it funny that the Republican convention is delayed by a day because of the storm. Weren't they delayed last time when they held it in Minnesota because of a snow storm that came through? Well, in any case I will be in Tampa on Thursday but not near downtown. More to the north and east side of town. Want nothing to do with Tampa this week with that Convention going on. I wonder how the various media outlets will report on the news from the Convention. _________________ John

| Re: | | I think we should be neither a "glass half full", nor a "glass half empty" person. One is the result of our new age "speak reality into being" mentality we have drunk like wine from our culture/society. The other is a pessimistic view of fear/death/bad news that our media/Internet/ & fear-mongering cultural society thrives on. Be a realist with your eyes fixed on things eternal. See, I'm a "that glass has 4 ozs of water in it" kinda guy. Or 3. Or 5. Why draw yourself to a camp that it is either a "hand in the sand" with "fingers in your ears" that anytime even potentially "non-good" news is brought up, we raise our voices and say, "I can't hear you, I can't hear you". This is the camp that says, "prophesy not to us hard things, only prophesy smooth things" like the self-deceived of old. The other camp says, like Chicken Little, "the sky is falling, the sky is falling" and runs around in fear and fear-mongering all the day long, without their eyes on heaven, eternity, and Christ. Neither is fully accurate and over-exaggerated. We should be focused on, "Lord, what's really going on in this situation or that one? What is truth in it? Thy word is truth, so what are you saying/doing in this Lord?" Remember, the judgements of God, when they come, ARE with the purpose of His mercy. Even in unimaginable, unspeakable, judgements that take lives, God has purpose, and longs to bring REALITY into the face of those with their hand in the sand to cause them to turn to Him and repent (those whom He has called, but are yet to turn to Him & those who are asleep, backslidden, and spiritually lethargic). The only exception in this is the "bowls of God's WRATH" poured out in the end upon the earth. There is nothing wrong, by the way, with a man posing a contemplative question to the possibility of prophetic insight to be gained from an event for consideration among the Body. To force a man into a corner and say "either speak 'thus saith the Lord' or keep totally silent" is unfair and extra-biblical regardless of what scripture pulled out of context is used to justify such a statement. If that were true, Leonard Ravenhill, David Wilkerson, Art Katz, AW Tozer and other such prophetic preachers were in constant grave error and should have stood up, said "thus saith the Lord" spoke for 2 minutes and sat down and shut up. We seem to make rules for callings/giftings by the day that we neither have, nor fully understand. Again, the man just posed a question to ponder/consider. Good Lord, these threads can take anything the wrong way and argue it to death. :-) |

I shop at our local grocery store because the prices are lower...and the store is managed well. I have no idea of the manager's religious faith; however, he is a good manager. Some people will support Mitt Romney -- despite his religious views -- because they think that he will be a better executive than the current president.
Brother, I agree wholeheartedly with the logic of your analogy. Its like a breath of fresh air.

| Re: | | I really do not want to get into a debate about the wisdom of voting/Morman/Obama...
However, whenever, I read of these debates my memory goes back to when John F. Kennedy, a Catholic, was running against Richard Nixon, a Quaker, back in 1960. I well remember the fear people had of a Catholic occupying the White House. They were sure he would implement persecution against the Anabaptists because after all they did it back in the 1500s...
As a result of this fear many of the Anabaptists persuasion registered and voted for the first time - ever - but JFK won the election anyways. And he never did work to make Catholicism the state religion or persecute anyone. In fact it seemed as though he was not guided in life by any Catholic principles. I had a Catholic friend who said his lifestyle embarassed sincere Catholics.
Anyhow.
Sometimes I really wonder if this Romney bashing is not motivated by the Obama camp to get people to not vote at all so that he will win.

| Re: | | Again, the analogy of your local supermarket manager to the executive leader of the United States of America who has the red button to nukes at his disposal and all kinds of ther influential world power discretion at his fingertips is ludicrous.
I think the Lord is going to enable Mitt Romney to win so that all those who vote for him will celebrate and say "The Lord has shown upon us" (a leader in the Mormon church, a satanic cult, who has changed his position on issues like Abortion, universally controlled healthcare, etc. MULTIPLE times). There will be a renewed "hope" in America again, but no real change of the inner man of "Christians" (the masses of them for the most part), just again a symbiotic trust in Babylon which says ("God, country, family"), but really just speaks of nationalism and the same god she's been worshipping - one who's image and impact is different than the God of the Bible who impacts every facet of your life. Some renewed hope will surface and we, like ancient Israel, will feel safe again with "our man" in the white house. And guess what folks? Judgement is still coming. Why? Because we are focused not on things eternal (the Body as a whole or even a majority), but things below.
In love, comparing the president of the USA (especially in this day of global politics, nukes, rumors of wars, the UN, the failing world economies, etc.) to a Krogers Manager is.......C'MON PEOPLE, we all know better than that, don't we? Do we not discern the days/time/hour we live in? I'm not yelling, I'm just blown away by that, really I am. Presidential Importance = Walmart Manager Importance? Really. Really? C'mon. Then I guess who is the leader of Israel or Iran matters as little as the local 7-11 clerk too, huh? Surely we have not "over-logically" rationalized away our ability to see beyond what the natural eye sees, have we? |

i actually know of a lot of younger Christians who are voting for Obama. i have asked myself this same question ginnyrose about those who keep saying its so bad to vote for Romeny.
to those who are so afraid of what Romney will do what do you think Obama has planned? he is not a christian either. do you really think this country will be better off if Obama wins? do you think that God will judge the US less if Obama is president?
