 Re:

Veronica,
You said, "So maybe the question isn't, 'Why is there youth group/ministry?' but rather 'Why ISN'T there ministry to the fathers and families?'

Well said. Let's equip the fathers to be spiritual leaders, as GOD called them to be. That requires time and much exhortation, but it's biblical.

In Christ,
Renoncer

I was talking with a missionary friend this weekend, and he said that when they went into villages in Africa, the women and children were turned easily unto the LORD - but it was only when the men came that there was a great awakening.

Kind of makes me think of the world and how they are so out to reach the "teenagers." Most advertisements, commercials etc is out to reach the teenagers...Another counterfeit from the devil??

 Re: Spirit of Elijah Ministries

Veronica said,

"So maybe the question isn't, 'Why is there youth group/ministry?' but rather 'Why ISN'T there ministry to the fathers and families?'"

Renoncer replied,

"Well said. Let's equip the fathers to be spiritual leaders, as GOD called them to be. That requires time and much exhortation, but it's biblical."

Thanks be to God that He is raising up men and ministries to do those very things mentioned above.

Here's just one of those men and ministries I would highly recommend to you all.

http://www.spiritofelijah.com

The "Equipping Men" 11 DVD series is an excellent resource to,as Renoncer said,"...equip the fathers to be spiritual leaders, as GOD called them to be."

"Why ISN'T there ministry to the fathers and families?"

Thanks be to God that there is! It's just that in these times we must search diligently for such.

In the "About Us" link on the website you'll read these words, "The calling of God in Norm's life has given him a heart for men and their families."

If you're unfamiliar with Norm Wakefield and the ministry God has given him, "Spirit of Elijah Ministries", I'd encourage you to get familiar with him and the resources offered on the website. It's not a large ministry quantitatively speaking, but it's large qualitatively.

Check it out and you decide!

It's encouraging to know that there is a positive move to combat all those negatives!

God be praised!

We have heard Norm Wakefield speak/teach at homeschool conventions - I highly recommend his ministry as well. He really has a heart for training the fathers...

 Re:

hi, in order to change the fathers you must have the fathers and you must have their attention and time. if you train the young to be good fathers you then will have greater success.jimp look over most churches and you will see how women outnumber men and if you look closly the youth do not always stay young.

 Re:

StarofGod says:

"'Why ISN'T there ministry to the fathers and families?'

There is ministry to the fathers and families. It is from the Holy Spirit. But we don't see it or understand it because of our religious conditioning.

The problem today is that we have been conditioned to depend on man and not God. "Mediators" have been constructed for all of us and we don't have to go straight to God or hear straight from God. We get everything filtered through men. And we depend on men's ways and ideas.

Have you ever noticed in American society that there is a replacement for the Father in their kid's lives in every aspect of life?

We don't have to take our kids camping. Let another man take them in the Boy Scouts.

We don't have to teach our kids the Word. Put them in Youth Ministry.

You don't have to teach them anything, that is what public schools are for.

Need I go on? You get the point? You can name 5 more "replacements" on your own, I am sure.

All you have to do now is just "bring home the bacon."

God's design is for us fathers to come alongside our children and be involved in every aspect of their lives sowing the necessary amount of instruction, love and discipline, personally, not through some proxy.

If you substitute others for yourself in your kid's lives, don't be surprised if you end up having no relationship with your children. And why should you expect one? They spent all their formative years bonding with others instead of you and you can bet that they will surely adopt the lifestyle of others, too. And we act so surprised because we had them in Youth Ministry for 10 years.

Wherever you put your kid, you better be there with them because you don't know how other kids are being raised. More kids learn how to smoke dope and read porn in Youth Ministry than you would believe. And why is that? Because there are parents that think by dropping off their rebellious kids in "youth ministry", they will get straightened out.

Is this what the scriptures teach us. Let the world flood into the church because the church will "straighten them out?" God has built order into the Body. There is a place for ministry to the world and a place for ministry to the Saints. God is not the Author of confusion.

Same thing in your family, you don't let unsaved, God-hating people live with you. Do not be unequally yoked. Protect your kids and be aware what is going on with them in all of their relationships. But what most people do is "yoke" their kids up with others that are not really a good influence on their kids. Then you walk away and go to adult church or your prayer meeting.

People want to give their heart to something and if you don't have your kid's heart they will find someone else to give it to.

You are supposed to have your kids heart while he is growing up and then a transition takes place where your child eventually gives their heart to Jesus, not other men or women.

If you can find 3-4 families that are willing to meet with you to worship the Lord and study the Scriptures, you are much better off. It certainly is more manageable for you rather than being in a huge institution. And you and the other Fathers are continuiing to teach your kids in your small gathering. They see you as the spiritual head and not someone else. They see you and the other fathers bring forth the Word in your small gathering ministering to one another just as they see you minister to them at home.

It is sad yet true, that many families have been ruined by the American society and the American church. The American church is just a religious extension of our society. Hierarchical in organization just like our businesses and sadly they are run like businesses where people are more numbers than people. Just keep the programs running.

Fathers need to repent, rise up and take back their families and this may include leaving the religious organization that you are in. Can you please God and not men? If not, don't be surprised if you lose your family.

Julius
