Polar bears drowning as ice melts:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?xml=/earth/2008/08/30/eapolar130.xml
Dr Williams said animal groups were considering asking the US government to send a Coast Guard ship, like a modern Noah's ark, to rescue some of the bears.
'The bottom line here is that polar bears need sea ice, sea ice is decaying, and the bears are in very serious trouble.'
There is a typo in the post by heart song third post on the first page.Volcanic eruptions reshape Arctic ocean floor:study Wed Jun 25, 2008 4:13 PM ETThe mid-ocean ridge runs 84,000 kilometres (52,000 miles) beneath all the world's major seas except the Southern Ocean, and marks the boundary between many of the tectonic plates that make up the surface of the Earth.Should probably read 84,000 meters (52,000 feet)Blessings Greg ;-)

Thank you for catching this Smokey. The article was something that I copied and pasted, but I have trouble with relative time and distance - so I missed the error. Do you happen to know how wide the earth is? How much of the earth is the core?
Sorry about not getting back right away, I have been in Saskatchewan doing some reno's on a house we own there. The numbers i posted last time were also not correct. I did a search, and found out that the planet is 7926.41 miles through at the equater, and 7901 at the poles. I think the deepest ocean is about 7 miles deep, so the max for deep sea eruptions would be about 36,000+ feet.Blessings Greg :-D
