| Re: | | Whether we read the Word quickly or slowly, lets read with the help of the Spirit. Without Him we don't stand a chance.
I know a man who, for the last 50 years or so has spent each day reading the Bible, cover to cover, and then starting over. No plan, no set readings, just himself and the Word. The wisdom this guy has is humbling.
Lord may we each have a renewed and greater desire to feast upon your every word, to know the Scriptures, and You more truly through them. _________________ Jamie Adam

| Re: | | Just a suggestion. If one just applies the New Testament reading schedule you will be blessed beyond measure.

| Re: Read the Entire bible | | Wow! This entire thread is full of some wonderful ideas and Bible reading plans!
Ultimately, I think Bible reading plans are a bit like diet and exercise plans. Each of us is different. We each must choose one we can stick to, that will also get the desired results (In the case of Bible reading the desired result is spiritual growth.). If I pick one that is too rigorous or I am too dogmatic about it, I often don't follow through and then can become discouraged with dieting altogether. If I choose one that is too easy and demands little or no discipline, then I won't get the desired results and in the end I can also become discouraged and give up. I've found in my experience that Bible reading plans work much like this.
I myself follow a simple plan I got from "The Discipleship Journal" magazine in the late 1990's. It gives me a reading from four different parts of the Bible daily. One from the Gospels, one from Acts thru Revelation, one form the poetry books (Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesisastes, Song of Solomon) plus Job, and one from the OT (minus the poetry books and Job). Often I have finished this plan in much less than a year. Occasionally it takes me more than a year. I don't follow it religiously, but it gives me some structure in my reading as well as some accountability. I pray before I begin my daily reading and try always to be open to the Holy Spirit's leading, because most of all I want to hear what God has to say to me. Sometimes that takes me completely away from 'my plan', but that's fine by me. I praise God that He is so faithful to speak to us through His Word!
God bless you all and thanks for all the great ideas in this post!

| Re: MUST READ: Read the Entire bible in 26 Days! | | This is really good, However some may find it quite a rough schedule, however it need not be so, If you set aside 4 periods in one day and divide each daily reading by 4, you could read it in a day easily, probably 30 minutes at a time, so you could have 30 Minutes in the morning, 30minutes afternoon, 30 minutes evening, 30 minutes night time before bed. I think it if done this way it can still be read in a slow meditative manner, and it is a small sacrifice to pay, simply give up the time you spend watching TV.
If done this way it would also help you to keep your mind focused on the word of God through out the day, and in 21 days you would find that your thought process is more around Gods word because you go to it ever so frequently in one day.
I pray God strengthens and gives help to everyone who does this, I started today. _________________ Fred

| Re: | | I love the the thought of this plan. You can do it monthly and have 3-5 days where you don't read (the plan).
