that is a pretty rigorous plan! I started today and I'm almost done with the Genesis portion, only a few more chapters to go. Probably taken me an hour and a half so far just to go through the Genesis part. It sounds really hard to do, but when you think about it, the average American (Christian even) spends way more than that amount of time in front of the TV everyday.

Most people spend 3-4 hours infront of a TV. It takes 1-2 hours to read the portions of scripture. This is very possible and will reap much fruit if done to honor God and know Him more.

Keith Daniel speaks of men that have read the bible over 400 times! in this sermon:

The King's Highway

Do this plan when and if the Lord leads you.

Amen. I find that if im being led to do something like this for example i really need to prepare myself. For instance at least a day before i start i set my mind to the task ahead and pray it through. I find if i spend a good amount of time praying about it first it helps me to discipline myself more so than if i didn't pray. This is the same with fasting i really pray first, if i don't i find discipline goes out the window!!!
Blessings,
Geraldine :-)

 Re:

Thanks for the reading plan. It might be worth looking at - it does seem rather quick, so I doubt if it would replace my normal readings. I might give it a trial though and see how it goes....

Blessings

I do think at times this plan could be worthwhile to attempt. If you are not busy and have a few extra hours a day you could easily read through this plan.

"Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." -Psalm 119:9-11

 Re:

just my comment,

i read through most of the bible two years ago(the three books i never read, i listened to them in my car- 1&2 Chron, ezikel, job). now, i had never done it before, but from what i remember- i know the Spirit of God somehow put a thirst that was never quenchable... to explain it- one day, i would read a whole book like Genesis or exodus and the next day i would read only a portion of another book and just meditating on the story. some of the stories were staggering though for me- i esp remember two stories that were gems to me- that i had never heard been preached on- one was 1kings 13 i think- where the man of God gets lied to by another prophet and is invited into the house to eat(when he was forbidden not to) and the other one was in Judges, of the levi- whom the town took away and raped and killed and left her at the door of the house they were staying at as a guest. All this to say- when i read those stories- i really had to pause- because there were some jems i learned from those stories that i never quite had seen anywhere else in the bible... so, just an encouragement- if you do sense your spirit telling you to slow down, i would say do slow down- i would think better to learn a gem than to rush through to just say i finished the task..
what do you guys think.... this was a response also to what philologos asked rehetorically

sam

i like the 5 Lane Reading plan that DerekSpalla posted. i used the same type of categorical arrangement to read last time i read through.

 Re:

Has anyone read the Bible in 26 days?

To me that would be hard, just for the fact of allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you. It would seem that you would be more concerned about finishing the read than hearing.

I would be came to try it, though. I have read the NT in 30 days and for me that was hard. I am the type that can't retain right of the get go.
