Zac Poonen ( - Present)

Listen to freely downloadable audio sermons by the speaker Zac Poonen in mp3 format. God called brother Zac Poonen to a new work early on in his Christian experience. The movement is now called Christian Fellowship Churches where the New Covenant of New Testament Christianity is clearly preached.

Brother Zac Poonen has written 25 books most of them being on the deeper Christian life. Many of these have been translated into a number of languages and have been circulated widely around the world. He clearly and passionately shares the narrow way of Christian discipleship that is neglected by so many modern preachers.

(Genesis) - Part 22 by Zac Poonen

Scripture(s): Genesis 25:1-26:20, Romans 9:10-13
Description: What Abraham gave to Isaac was not a doctrine but a living faith. The struggle of Jacob and Esau in the womb depicts the struggle in the believer between flesh and spirit. God's sovereign choice of Jacob was not according to works, which has principles of rest for us, such as being delivered from competition and jealousy over ministry with others in the church. Isaac's partiality at age 80 is a warning to be steadfast to the spiritual zeal of younger years.

(Genesis) - Part 23 by Zac Poonen

Topic: Genesis
Scripture(s): Genesis 26:18-27:46
Description: The end of Isaac's life is summed up by the words, "His eyes grew dim." The young man who spent his time meditating in the fields and praying for the birth of sons lost his spiritual discernment by loving food more than the will of God and lacking struggles in life because everything was handed to him. Rebecca also serves as a warning to sisters who begin to think of themselves as the wife of no ordinary person and end up losing out. This section contains much profitable counsel for parents in raising up godly children.

(Genesis) - Part 24 by Zac Poonen

Topic: Genesis
Scripture(s): Genesis 28-30
Description: The vision of Jacob's ladder is shown to be the Lord Jesus in John 1, which pictures our Mediator as one who came all the way down to earth, on our level as a man. God used a difficult employer (Laban) and two difficult wives (Leah and Rachel) to discipline and humble Jacob. As believers, we need to have our eyes opened to see this Jacob in our flesh that God may deliver us.

(Genesis) - Part 25 by Zac Poonen

Scripture(s): Genesis 31-33
Description: Testing and breaking is the way of God in dealing with every true man of God. God trained Jacob in submission through a difficult father-in-law and circumstances. Like Jacob, God always wrestles to bring us down to a zero point of brokenness, where we only want to hold onto Him.

(Genesis) - Part 26 by Zac Poonen

Topic: Genesis
Scripture(s): Genesis 34-37
Description: Jacob's detour to Shechem shows us how important it is to be wholehearted and radical and how this transformation process can be. In Shechem, Jacob ran into many problems, losing authority in the home and his daughters wandering the streets. Esau's having kings long before Jacob's teaches that affliction is the true preparation for kingship. Joseph serves as a challenge to have a heart open to God and also as a tremendous picture of Jesus Christ.

(Genesis) - Part 27 by Zac Poonen

Topic: Judah
Scripture(s): Genesis 38-40, Matthew 1:1-6
Description: Judah's backsliding and adultery with his daughter-in-law Tamar holds out warnings of ungodly association but also the mercy of God through Jesus' willingness to be identified with sinners. The tests of Joseph are the tests for every believer: submission to spiritual authority and keeping oneself pure. The "post-graduate" tests come when we can stand up under false accusation and suffer for the sins of others.

(Genesis) - Part 28 by Zac Poonen

Topic: Affliction
Scripture(s): Genesis 41-42, Psalm 105:16-19
Description: The purpose of affliction is that iron might come into our soul, that is, God strengthens us against worldly influences. In the times of great abundance, Pharaoh’s dream instructs us to be wise to store up, whether physically or spiritually with our free time to study God's Word. The naming of Joseph's two sons illustrates that before we can be fruitful, we must forget all the evil and mistakes of others.

(Genesis) - Part 29 by Zac Poonen

Topic: Joseph
Scripture(s): Genesis 43-47
Description: Joseph's life was one characterized by humility, the fear of God, and submission to authority. His repetitions of "God sent me" to his brothers shows his confidence that God could take the evil other people did to him and work it for good. One faithful man can accomplish a tremendous lot for God!

(Genesis) - Part 3 by Zac Poonen

Topic: Genesis
Scripture(s): Genesis 2:1-22, Exodus 20:8-10
Description: What are man's true priorities? Is it more important to work for the Lord or fellowship with Him? What is that raises man's life above the level of animals? What value does an earthly occupation hold in the life of a Christian? Zac answers these and more as he examines Genesis chapter 2.

(Genesis) - Part 30 by Zac Poonen

Topic: Jacob
Scripture(s): Genesis 48-50
Description: The transformed Jacob could be so mightily used at the end of his life. True prophecy came when his natural strength had been dislocated. The blessings and warnings to Jacob's sons can be equally appropriate to us. Reuben warns us that if we cannot rule over our own passions we cannot lead in the church. "Am I in God's place?" is a good question to ask ourselves if we are secretly delighting in “being God” to other brothers and sisters.

(Genesis) - Part 4 by Zac Poonen

Scripture(s): Genesis 2:21 - 3:6
Description: God gave Adam two gardens to tend and guard: a natural one and a spiritual one with his wife. Brother Zac touches on problems in marriage that come about by veering off God's original purpose. When God makes two one, Satan is sure to come to break up the union through temptation. This original lie and temptation is alive and well today, whenever we seek to be a mini-god to others and seeking to get other people to admire us.

(Genesis) - Part 5 by Zac Poonen

Topic: Temptation
Scripture(s): Genesis 3:6-14, 2 Corinthians 11:2-4
Description: Why does God allow temptation to come? Behind the first temptation of the devil was this false grace to comfort people in their sin, whereas every word from God is a challenge to deliver from sin. Satan still seeks to lead Christians away from simple devotion to Christ, which is simple obedience to what God has said.

(Genesis) - Part 6 by Zac Poonen

Topic: Genesis
Scripture(s): Genesis 3:14-24
Description: "There is always hope in God's rebuke," says Zac Poonen, as he points out how hard work is a protection and the priorities of wife and mother are the marks of a spiritual woman. The first prophecies of Scripture contain the defeat of Satan and Christ manifest in the flesh as well as His death, taking upon Himself all the curse of Genesis 3--sorrow, sweat, thorns, dust, sword and death.

(Genesis) - Part 7 by Zac Poonen

Topic: Genesis
Scripture(s): Genesis 4:1-16
Description: When parents are not in fellowship with God and one another, that home is opened up to the devil's attack as it was with Cain and Abel. The religion of Cain serves as a warning to us today if we exhibit Cain's anger against other believers who don't see eye-to-eye doctrinally or have the fire of God on their lives. And from the very beginning, God preached a gospel of victory that sin is not to master you.

(Genesis) - Part 8 by Zac Poonen

Scripture(s): Genesis 4:17 - 5:32
Description: The rise of 5 things from Cain's descendants--city life, perpetuating one's name, immorality, musical instruments and industry--are dangers to be alert to in our day. Enoch demonstrates a godly life in the midst of death, showing how a man can walk with God and still have a large family and be a lonely preacher of righteousness. Enoch is a picture of the Bride that's going to be raptured when Jesus comes again.

(Genesis) - Part 9 by Zac Poonen

Topic: Genesis
Scripture(s): Genesis 6
Description: The days of Noah are characteristic of the days of the coming of Christ, days filled with sexual immorality and violence. What does the building of the ark mean for the Church today?

Scripture(s): Exodus 21:1-6, 31:12-17, Hebrews 4:9
