Thank You | | I have been saying the same thing for the last few months, though not nearly as well articulated as David Legge, this is a much needed to be heeded understanding. Revival is a humility of the heart, not political reform. It staggers me how easy it is to fall into the trap he is talking about. I am reading "The Forge of Christendom," by Tom Holland this week and it is embarrassing what people have done in the name of Christ because we forget that exact verse Jesus spoke, "If my kingdom were of this world...my followers would fight." I believe that is both a sympathetic statement as well as a warning. I love the emphasis on the humility as well as the admission that there is always a frustration with the status quo in this sermon. I sometimes feel guilty for that frustration, but I never know what to do with it. I had recently read the first few verses of Isaiah 66, and concluded as well that the word of the Lord is used in the hands of the humble, not in the fists of the proud. |
