| | And the Country was Filled with Water by Duncan Campbell
Topic: Baptism Of The Holy Spirit Scripture(s): 2 Kings 3:10-20 | | Description: Duncan Campbell preached this strong word on the baptism in the Holy Spirit at a camp meeting in America in the 1960's. "You can't work up revival, but you can do the digging"--a breaking through the dry crust of our hearts and removing the 'stones', anything that would hinder a consecrated life to God. The sermon is alive with vivid revival accounts, as with its sister sermon, "Lacking One Thing".

Encouraged to pray & believe for the impossible | | This message reminded me in a profound way that it's our unbelief and laziness that God sees. He gives us "our hearts' desire". What is that--something besides His glorious presence and works?
| Good nuggets for heart preparation | | Campbell is a vivid storyteller - I love his first hand accounts of revival incidents he tells, that have a great tie in to the message. He really demonstrates how vital the biblical baptism in the Holy Spirit is, as well as defusing prejudices he experienced about it. You come away wanting to be that "young soldier in touch with God and in touch with God's secrets." The last 20 minutes of the sermon has a poorer audio quality but still ok.
| Good sermon | | Lots of preaching about things many don't want to hear, but things that are still true. Like: sin in our own life preventing revival, the baptism of the Holy Ghost turning regular preaching into soul-winning preaching, hanging onto the things that make our brother stumble, etc.
