| | Building the Walls by Duncan Campbell
Topic: Prayer Life Scripture(s): Nehemiah 6:1-4 | | Description: Duncan Campbell draws principles from the life of Nehemiah to illustrate the qualities of a man who is diligent in prayer, labor and vision, yet is able to let God do the rest. He closes with sober call to those who have left the work of God in compromise to let God 'restore the year of the locust'.

| | Six Paces and a Shout of Glory by Carter Conlon
Topic: Glorifying God Scripture(s): Nehemiah 6:1-4 | | Description: October 30, 2005 - We are ordinary people called by God to do an extraordinary work. The tactic of the enemy is to get you to leave a great work to do a good work. We are inclined to slip out of the place that God has ordained for us and live out our own plans. But as we surrender to His call and we begin to understand that divine life is flowing through you and you know you are exactly where you are supposed to be you cant go no more than six paces before you stop and give God a shout of glory.

| | (Guidelines) Read the Bible by J. Vernon McGee
Topic: Scripture(s): Nehemiah 8:1-3 | | Description: If you want to know the God of the Bible, then read the Bible. Our ears must be attentive, even if we must determine to read through a passage many times for it to speak to us. McGee also affirms the value of quality preaching and teaching of the Word of God in Church.

| | Getting Back To the Bible by David Legge
Topic: Scripture(s): Nehemiah 8:1-18 | | Description: Here in Nehemiah is Biblical account of a revival. Pastor Legge shows that in all revivals there are 2 key elements: 1) Straight preaching ot the Word of God, 2) Obedience from the people of God. He shows that during revival we can see 5 five key stages, the first is that the people in the revival read they're Bibles avidly, second they understand what the Word of God is saying to them, third they obey the commandments of the Lord, fourth lost truths are recovered and obeyed both in form and principle. Finally the people of God will rediscover strength and endurance for the work of God because 'the joy that is the Lord's is their strength.'

| | Nehemiah, Esther by Zac Poonen
Topic: Esther Scripture(s): Nehemiah, Esther | | Description: Nehemiah teaches us that God is waiting for one man who has a burden for the glory of God. One who fears God will be fearless towards men and strict about God's standards. The believers who stayed behind in Babylon in the book of Esther pictures a corrupt Christianity of people who live after the flesh. Yet God still cares and provides for such people, though He doesn't publicly identify with them as He did with those who live selflessly for Christ.

| | Delivered by a Cry by David Wilkerson
Topic: Deliverance Scripture(s): Judges 2, Nehemiah 9:24-28, Exodus 3:7-8 | | Description: Pastor Wilkerson goes through several chapters and verses in the book of Judges showing how Israel repeatedly turned from God, which gave the enemy opportunity to oppress them, and yet, when they cried out to God, he did not rail on them, he sent them a deliverer. God was angry at their sin, yet when they cried out he delivered. He wanted them to see they needed him. If you are struggling with a besetting sin, this message will show you the way to deliverance!

| | Diligence in God´s Work - more lessons from Nehemiah by Erlo Stegen
Topic: God's Work Scripture(s): Nehemiah 2:17- 20 | | Description: The matter we find here is not directly related to the Christmas story but nevertheless contains and essential part of the Gospel for Jesus came into this world to "save His people from their sins" and set them on fire for Him and make them truly diligent in His work. Nehemiah had a cushy job in Persia. His position meant that the King's life was in His hands and he was also an advisor to him. Yet, his concern was for the condition of God's work in Jerusalem. As distant as he was Nehemiah still felt godly zeal for the Lord and His people. We find that he was able to inspire the Lord's people to work so zealously that they completed the rebuilding of the walls in 52 days - humanly impossible but with God, all things are possible. They both defended God's work and built, at the same time, despite all opposition.

| | Come let us build by Erlo Stegen
Topic: Building Scripture(s): Nehemiah 2:17 | | Description: A certain lady was worried that she was getting older and remaining single. One day she was very distressed and went to pray outside under a tree for a husband. She worked herself up emotionally and eventually she shouted (some Christians like to pray louder and louder and work themselves up to a crechendo, thinking that by their sheer volume they will be heard of God. They fail to distinguish between the soul and spirit). An owl in the tree was startled by her crying and let out "whooo". She replied, "anybody, Lord". Don't be obsessed with marriage lest you end up with a washout of a husband. Let God be your first priority.

| | Who Is Guarding The Front Door Of Your Home by David Wilkerson
Topic: Scripture(s): Nehemiah 7,Isaiah 44:1-4 | | Description: We must examine ourselves for how we raised our children, and live our lives, for we will stand before a holy God and give account. Parents are responsible for what comes into their homes. Watchmen and guards must be appointed and we must all fast and pray for our homes and families. Pastor Wilkerson uses Nehemiah as an example of a caring watchman who was burdened for Israel when they were rebuilding the walls of the broken down city of Jerusalem.

| | Rubbish by C. H. Spurgeon
Topic: Scripture(s): Nehemiah 4:10 | | Description: Now, this, it seems to me, is intended, or at least may justifiably be used, for a type of the work which God's people have to carry on in the name of Jesus, and in the power of his Spirit, in the world. We have to build the wall of the church for God, but we cannot build it, for there is so much rubbish in our way. This is true, first, of the building of the church, which is the Jerusalem of God; and this is equally true of the temple of God, which is to be built in each one of our hearts. Full often we feel discouraged. Though we hear the voice that saith, But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God, still we are apt to feel that we cannot build this wall, because there is so much rubbish.
