| | Truths from Israel's History, Part 1 - Crossing the Jordan by Ed Miller
Topic: Scripture(s): Joshua 3, Matthew 6:13 | | Description: Ed Miller answers the question, "How can I get others to appropriate a full Christ?" by watching what the priests did when God dried up the Jordan River. He illustrates the need for us to have faith, to stand upon Christ's finished work (the dry ground), and holding up Christ (the Ark of the Covenant). (This series of messages was delivered at the Del-Mar-Va Men's Retreat in March of 2001)

| | Forgiveness and Fasting by Dick Woodward
Topic: Forgiveness Scripture(s): Matthew 6:16-18 | | Description: Like giving and praying, fasting also must be vertical, directed toward God and not to impress others. As with the other disciplines, God will reward what He sees, the motives of our heart. As giving provides an opportunity for us to measure our commitment to God, fasting gives us an opportunity to measure the degree to which we value the spiritual more than the physical aspects of our lives. It also demonstrates the sincerity of our prayers.

| | Great Commission by John Stott
Topic: Great Commission Scripture(s): Matthew 28:18-20, Luke 24:44-49 | | Description: According to Stott, Luke's commission makes clear that the primary task of the Church is to be gospel heralds, not social reformers nor faith healers. There are five aspects: 1. forgiveness of sin (crucified Savior, the gift of grace alone). 2. upon the name of Christ. 3. on condition of repentance (risen Lord, the obedience of faith alone). 4. to all the nations. 5. in the power of the Holy Spirit (ever fresh, convicting, converting).

| | As You Go, Make Disciples by Paul Washer
Topic: Discipleship Scripture(s): Matthew 28:18-20 | | Description: Paul Washer expounds The Great Commission, starting with four statements about the churchs obligation and authority under this commission. He then considers the men who first received this commission, and the necessity of their transformation at Pentecost. Our attention is then drawn to the Christ of the Great Commission, especially his unlimited, unhindered, unending authority over all (v.18). Jesus referred to himself as the Son of Man many times, to show us who he really was, the fulfilment of Daniels vision (Dan.7:13,14). There is only one true King and kingdom in the world today; lose sight of his sovereignty, and you lose the hope of missions. Finally Mr. Washer examines the commission itself - its foundation, commands, and effects - and asks whether our own lives and ministries are worthy of being exported to nations that have already been ravaged and confused by our false doctrines, false gospels, false evangelists, carnality and worldliness. He ends with a passionate plea for missions and missionaries, and an exhortation to confidence in the One who said, Lo, I am with you alway (v.20). Thats not a promise, he says, its a FACT. | | The Authority of Christ by Paul Washer
Topic: Authority Scripture(s): Matthew 28:16-18 | | Description: This message, based on Matthew 28:16-18, is a word of comfort, encouragement and exhortation both to missionaries and to all believers. Firstly, Paul Washer explains how the disciples must have felt as Jesus came to them after his resurrection: weak, doubting, and so aware that all their claims to devotion had failed. Yet how patient God is, and Mr Washer expounds the blessed promises concerning the smoking flax and bruised reed. He then says that much of todays preaching takes away from the glory of Christ, because it puts into the future what the New Testament declares is now. Christ said, All power is (now) given unto me. Turning to Psalm 2, Mr.Washer shows how and why the heathen rage against the gospel of Jesus Christ; but God mocks them, for he has established his King, and all authority is given to Him. We should not fear those who oppose the gospel, not should we be angry; we should pity them and Mr Washer shares his own experience when arrested by police in Peru. He then expounds the Son of Man (Daniel 7:13) in the context of Christs kingdom. Conspiracy theories? There are no such thing! says Mr Washer; man can do NOTHING unless Jesus Christ decrees it. Jesus Christ is king, NOW! 71 minutes.
