| | Be Strong & Courageous by Robert B. Thompson
Topic: Scripture(s): Joshua 1:5-7, Psalm 1:1, Joel 2:2 | | Description: Dr. Thompson begins by recounting events from a recent trip, stressing the eagerness for youth to embrace what God is doing, as opposed to the reluctance of many of the adults. He takes time to elaborate on Psalm 1:1, quickly addresses unconditional love, and then discusses the Army of the Lord. All of this is within the context of Joshua 1, and the transition from Moses to Joshua. This sermon is much more practical than it sounds. (1 hr 7 min 9 sec)

| | Joshua's Obedience by C. H. Spurgeon
Topic: Scripture(s): Joshua 1:7 | | Description: DELIVERED BY C. H. SPURGEON, AT THE METROPOLITAN TABERNACLE, NEWINGTON. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:7. JOSHUA was very highly favored in the matter of promises. The promises given him by God were broadly comprehensive and exceedingly encouraging. But Joshua was not therefore to say within himself, These covenant engagements will surely be fulfilled, and I may therefore sit still and do nothing. On the contrary, because God had decreed that the land should be conquered, Joshua was to be diligent to lead the people onward to battle. He was not to use the promise as a couch upon which his indolence might luxuriate, but as a girdle wherewith to gird up his loins for future activity. As a spur to energy, let us always regard the gracious promises of our God. We should sin against him most ungratefully and detestably were we to say within ourselves, God will not desert his people; therefore let us venture into sin; and we are almost equally wicked if we whisper in our own minds, God will assuredly fulfill his own decrees, and give the souls of his redeemed as a reward to his Son Jesus. therefore let us do nothing, and refrain altogether from zealous Christian service. This is not proper language for true children...

| | Four Wonderful Discoveries by Warren Wiersbe
Topic: Scripture(s): Joshua 5:13-15 | | Description: This message was preached at the annual Pastors Conference, First Baptist Church Jacksonville, Florida, February 2, 1998. This message is a must hear for all Christian leaders who find that they are ministering in difficult days. In it, Dr. Wiersbe uncovers four wonderful discoveries (principles) that will help to refocus and encourage Gods leaders as they labor in the work of the Lord. God used this message to call me into the ministry and set me in the right path from the beginning. The Holy Spirit still reminds me of what He said to me through this sermon to this very day.

| | Truths from Israel's History, Part 3 - Captain of the Lord's Host by Ed Miller
Topic: Scripture(s): Joshua 5:13-15, Joshua 6 | | Description: Ed Miller shares vital principles of how to get the second generation from Gilgal to Jericho by looking at Joshua. Joshua's encounter with the Captain of the Lord's hosts is an illustration that 1) God fights for God, and 2) He has come to take over. Just as the battle is the Lord's, so too the victory is the Lord's.

| | Through The Bible - Joshua by Zac Poonen
Topic: Scripture(s): Joshua | | Description: Overcoming sin through the Lord Jesus, our Joshua, is the theme of this book. The "old man" has already been killed by God (i.e. Pharoah's army), but the lusts of our flesh (i.e., giants in Canaan) must be killed one by one if we are to enter in and possess the land. Great victories come because God is with me, hearing what God is saying, avoiding the temptation to be complacent, and many others.

| | I Will Never Draw Back My Hand by Carter Conlon
Topic: Abraham Scripture(s): Joshua 8:16-18, Isaiah 24:4-12, Matthew 9:18-19 | | Description: God told Abraham everywhere he walked the land would be given him, and his seed. Where ever we walk in the Word of God, when we begin to see the promises of God through the eyes of faith and realize they are for us, personally, things will begin to change. The difference between the kingdom of this world and the kingdom of God are contrasted in this message. An exciting truth!!
