Summary of "I AM - do not doubt":

On Thursday we celebrate the Ascension of our Lord even though as a country it's no longer a public holiday.

The ascension of our Lord is something wonderful and great.

Today, however, we will look at something that happened between Easter and the Ascension of our Lord.

Matt 28
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

The first verse we read breaks one's heart for it speaks of only only eleven disciples. Where was the twelfth? One of the twelve was missing. It would be sad if you are here today but one day you're no longer counted amongst God's children. Throughout the history of the church there were those deserters like Demas. They will regret it.

When Jesus saw the women after He had risen from the dead He said to them, "tell My brothers I'm going ahead of them". He calls us His brothers! Do we live accordingly?

The disciples went to the mountain which Jesus had appointed. It was a far distance and they had to walk there. The Bible doesn't say specifically which mountain it was, because there were different mountains. Some think it might have been the mount of transfiguration. But it could've been another mountain. Maybe the reason the Bible is not specific about the mountain is because people are superstitious and may want to make a pilgrimage to that mountain.

The disciples did well that they obeyed and went there where the Lord had directed them to. Many people know what they have to do but never do it. They are like road signs - they can show you the direction to a place but never go themselves.

When king Herod summoned the chief priests and pharisees to tell him where the Messiah would be born they knew and could tell him "in Bethlehem", but they themselves didn't go.

Do what the Lord tells you to do. There are places the Lord is pointing us to. Are we obeying?

In God's word it says 366 times, "do not fear". There are enough "do not fears" for every day of the year and even for the leap year.

The Bible says, "seek first the Kingdom of God", and "be strong in the strength of the Lord", and "be filled with the Spirit and not wine". Are you seeking His Kingdom and are you filled with His Spirit?

Are you at that place the Lord Jesus appointed you?

As the disciples went to the mountain they were probably speaking and wondering what the Lord would speak to them about. When they got there they fell down before Him and worshiped Him, but some doubted. What did they doubt? That it was the Lord Jesus? No, for He told them beforehand that He would meet them there.

Why then were some doubting? The probably answer we find in the Lord's own words which follow this.

Jesus saw their doubts and addressed them through what He said, "All authority had been given to Me in Heaven and on earth". They were doubting that Jesus really had all authority, and that's why He addressed that fear.

That's also the problem with many Christians today. They continually doubt God's power. Is there some doubt in your heart? Maybe you fear the communists, the terrorists, your enemies, but you simply need to know this about the Lord Jesus that all authority had been given to Him. Has God been able to deliver you from your doubt?

He didn't command us just to let others know what the Lord has taught, but to teach them to obey.

You might say that is too difficult. But then you're also doubting if you speak like that.

When Moses stood at the burning bush, God told him to tell them that "I Am has sent you".

The Lord often introduced Himself as the "I Am".

Jesus spoke to the pharisees and scribes and when they went against Him, He said, "before Abraham was, I Am". They wanted to stone Him because of it, for they understood the implication of what He said. The I Am is God Himself!

He refers to His eternal nature when He speaks about Himself as the, "I Am". His Name indicates His unsearchable character - God divine.

Where is the fruit in your life that shows that the, "I Am", is with you? What type of person ought you to be?

Let it not be a lie but may the great I Am display His power in your life.
