"THRICE BLESSED"

Intro: This Psalm has three movements each summarized by a blessing.
"Blessed" means "O how happy."

I. "BLESSED ARE THEY THAT DWELL IN THY HOUSE."
A. "How amiable or desirable are thy tabernacles O Lord of hosts."
1. Looked upon as the place where man meets God.
2. How vital is our worship together.
a. No man is an island, no man stands alone.
b. "The ear cannot say to the eye..."
B. The deep hunger and yearning of the soul for this worship and fellowship.
1. "My soul longs -faints."
2. "My heart and flesh cry for the living God."
a. Life at its best apart from Him is empty.
b. Life apart from Him is without purpose.
C. Even the little birds share this blessing.
1. Psalm 27:4.

II. "BLESSED IS THE MAN WHOSE STRENGTH IS IN THEE."
A. "In passing through dry places they make it a well."
1. We used to say of our children when they were babies, "They can get
juice out of crackers."
2. There are people whose lives are like artesian wells.
a. It's a refreshing experience to be around them.
b. Their cup is always running over.
3. What is their secret?
a. Their source is in the Lord.
b. "He who drinks of the water..."
B. "They go from strength to strength."
1. So many go from strength to weakness.
2. You see them maintaining their position ever so strongly, you look again
and see them shattered.
a. Their strength gave out.
b. Their resources were depleted.
C. How vital that we learn to rely on God for our strength.
1. No matter how strong we think we are, we each have a breaking point.
2. It our strength is in Him, we shall still be standing when all others
have fallen.
3. "All ourspringsare in thee."

Ill. "BLESSED IS THE MAN THAT TRUSTEST IN THEE."
A. God becomes our sun and shield.
1. All our energy has as its source the sun.
a. God is our life-giving source.
2. He also is my defence.
B. "A day in thy courts is better than a thousand."
1. A thousand days any where else.
C. "I would rather be a door keeper. . ."
1. The lowest position in God's kingdom better than highest position in
kingdom of darkness.
2. Rather be the poorest man in heaven than the richest man in hell.
D. "The Lord will give grace and glory."
1. "No good thing will He withhold from them who walk uprightly."
