"O Lord, how great are Thy works! And Thy thoughts are very deep" (Psa. 92:5).
Gods own evaluation of His Word is that it is superior. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so His thoughts, His words, His ways are superior to those of man. "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts" (Isa. 55:8-9).
Gods Word is superior in origin, superior in thought, superior in promise, superior in beauty, superior in purpose, superior in power, superior in results. We are at once impressed by its profound simplicity, its inimitable brevity, its unhurried clarity. The Bible fascinates the child and entrances the sage.
Its superiority is seen in the fact that the Word of God has in it nothing but truth. Its superiority is seen in the fact that the words of Scripture are entirely right and are all truth on every subject that they touch. Its superiority is seen in the fact that it contains promises that are backed by Gods infinite resource and power. "His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue: whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises; that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust" (2 Pet. 1:3-4).
