All great revival is the result of earnest, consistent, believing, intercessory prayer. It is utterly impossible to have true revival without prayer, for revival is the work of the Holy Spirit and He is limited to the prayer and intercession of the saints.

God bids us to come unto His throne with boldness to intercede. What gives you boldness before a patrol officer? A clear conscience, of course. But a guilty conscience makes you shrink from his presence.

So with God. If you regard sin in your heart you cannot enjoy His presence, nor will He answer that for which you ask (Psalm 66:18; Isaiah 59:1,2). But "If our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence (boldness) toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight" (1 John 3:21-22).

Therefore as believers we must put ourselves into action to have always a conscience void of offense toward God and toward man (Acts 24:16). Such is accomplished as we give the Holy Spirit permission to search our hearts by the practical application of the simple, plain truth of God. Such permission comes not by verbal consent only, but by heart willingness and obedience to the Holy Spirit in all that He reveals to you.

It means restitution, reconciliation and restoration. It means you must make everything (past and present) right with God and man. Are you willing to honestly face and straighten up all the Holy Spirit shows you? If so, tell God right now that you will. Amen!

At least once every two weeks each believer should personally give time to heart searching, study for personal edification and prayer in order to keep broken and useable by the Holy Spirit (Hosea 10:12). Oftimes in such heart searching sin becomes so exceeding sinful one may doubt his salvation and acceptance with God. But be not affrighted, for if such sin is confessed and forsaken the Holy Spirit will bear witness of your acceptance with God (John 6:37; Romans 8:14).

Deep humility, the Spirit of Christ, a heart of deep praise, newness of love for Christ and His Word, a Spirit of prayer and supplication, and power for effective ministry to others will be the inevitable results. Hallelujah!

Set yourself to search your heart as diligently and honestly as if you were preparing for the soon coming of Christ, yea, even the judgment seat of Christ--for you are! Prepare to meet thy God, O Christian.
