Text Sermons : Classic Christian Writings : The Powerful Weapon Of Prayer By Matthew Skariah

Open as PDF

Today our world is being carried on a rushing torrent of history that is sweeping out of control. There is but one power available to redeem the course of human events, and that is the power of prayer by God’s soldiers. God has placed a powerful weapon at the disposal of the church that can outmaneuver and frustrate the very strategy of hell, and cause doubt and fear to vanish before our very eyes. What the world needs first is intercessors--full of righteous vigor, full of compassion and full of faith. Dark as these foolish years seem, God will lead us into the light of His glory.

No one who is truly conversant in the historical affairs of man can deny what happens when Christians unite themselves in prayer! When Christians pray together, work together, and cooperate together in the spirit of Christ’s love, everything becomes possible. We can, and will, attack the enemy as a united invisible force. As prayer warriors we have the greatest weapon ever--the weapon of the power of prayer.

Remember that prayer was not given to us to use "when all else fails." Prayer was given to us to keep "all else from failing." The future of our nation and the world depends upon the prayers of God’s praying minority. The enemy must be challenged and we Christians must be unrelenting in our prayer commitments. Satan has no effective weapon against God’s true intercessors. Yes, he is still free to fight but every battle means a fresh defeat to the enemy.

If we want to see God’s mighty power released, let the people of God answer His challenge: "Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not" (Jeremiah 33:3). Answer, preachers! Answer, Christians! God is challenging us to "weep" over a lost world! This is the hour to pray and this hour will never be repeated. To neglect to "pray" is like putting a grenade in the hands of the enemy to blow us out!

Matthew Skariah, World Prayer Band, Roswell, New Mexico.
