If multi-billionaire Bill Gates would come and promise us $10,000 for every soul we honestly and sincerely seek to win to Christ, would we be more concerned than we are now? Bill Gates, you know, is well able to do it. How rich is Bill Gates? Well, if Adam had lived until today and saved a dollar an hour, solid time, night and day, for over 5,000 years, Bill Gates would still be richer than Adam!
In either case, if Bill Gates should make us this offer, what would we do? I think I know what many would do. I can, in my imagination, see us going out into the hills and hollows, streets and lanes of the cities. We would say, "I will get $10,000 for every soul I try to win; not for those I win, but for all I sincerely try to win." That looks like we care more for gold than souls.
The Lord pity us! Jesus declares that one soul is worth more than all the world. Oh, that we might have some idea of the value and preciousness of a soul! It is indestructible. It can't be burned or drowned. It will live on through an incomprehensible eternity, either with Christ and the redeemed in heaven or with the devil and the damned in hell.
