TRUST GOD. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in man. Psalms 118.8. Every day you put your trust in friends who are weak, in people who are unknown to you, in unfaithful household servants. And yet you are afraid of trusting God. The signature of a public official puts your mind at ease about your possessions, yet the everlasting good news of Jesus Christ does not give you any reassurance at all. The world makes you every sort of promise, and you believe it. But God swears His promises to you, and you find it hard to believe Him. How shameful this is for Him! What a terrible thing this is for you! Let us put things back in their proper order. With temperance and moderation, let us do the things that depend on us. Let us faithfully await the things that depend on God. Let us control any unchecked emotions, any anxiety disguised as right thinking or zeal. Those who live in such a way establish their foundation on God and become immovable like Mount Zion.
