Be Merciful Be merciful, even as your father is merciful. Luke 6.36. Just because other people are weak, is that a good reason to speak more harshly to them? You who complain that others are making you suffer, do you think you are not making anyone else suffer? You who are so shocked by your neighbor's faults, do you imagine you are perfect yourself? How dumbfounded you would be if all the people on whom you keep pressing so hard were suddenly to turn around and start pressing hard on you. But when you find your justification on earth, could not God, who knows everything and who has many things he could reproach you for, could he not silence you with a single word and stop you? Does it not ever enter your mind to be afraid that he will ask why you do not show your brother a little of that mercy that he, who is your master, showers so abundantly on you?
