Part of my life story, how jesus turned the bible for me irrelevant to relevant

When I used to read the bible I spent years trying that the bible was irrelavant to this culture. I ended up proving the exact opposite even thou I was a christian.
Firstly I thought that the language was out of date. Then god showed me the fields and the harvest time and proved that the seasons have not changed since the foundation of time.
That ever since the foundation of time it gave me a real interest in agriculture.
I then did science and physics and my view of myself was nothing mroe than a piece of carbon floating around the universe and to minimise myself to nothing but a piece of Carbon.
Ever since I was youger I used to read the bible but the word truth always stuck out.
I used to read alot of Artist Biographys in which most of them ended up in suicide or loads of affairs or complete misery as I was doing art.
I thought if this is the lives of men I want something else and I was doing sciece and chemistry where they minimized life to nothing.
I realised that god manual is of life.I thought of the bible as nothing more than a manual such a for a computer , if a computer is broken you read the manual. Another thing I realised I think at that time was about the word of god, I realised if god created the heavens and the earth by his word his word must be powerful and if one word of his can create plants and trees, think what a whoie book can do. I also realised the degredation i language in science it is not fixed , one theory would superced another theory and therefore it is not valid information not unless something stays the same. I was also noticing peoples language how it changes and that the meanings of words would change over time.
another one of my realisations is that I had to discover what truth was or is.
There was so many truths about god word that I want to know every nuiance about his word and that the whole of the bible points to Jesus and he is the way, the truth , the life and that it says in revelation, that who was and who is and who is to come, that Jesus has not changed it is us who do.
I think there was so many other things that are god is mighty.
I was reading the bible since I was about 7 I even memorised it and got an award for saying a verse every single week for a year.
I think it was David aswell in the bible that grew me a fondness of his word I looked at the life story of david and I thought how on earth can so one so messed up love the word of god.
I also learned that the hebrew word for Torah means guide and that he is the only guide. I also had a struggle where I would go into work places which were pornogrpahy infested rooms which the only hope of surviving was carrying my small bible with me and reading it and just clensing my mind every lunch break. I also thought that if the pornography is killing my mind and filling my mind and my imagination with terrible images what would the word of god do, and as I was desperate I went down the christian bookshop and have got nay christian thign that I could get my hand on. I am always desperate then. i have always come across theologians and I always point them to jesus and use John 5:39 you search the scriptures they think they point you to eternal life but they point you to me and to the people that dont read there bibles I always point them to if you love me you will obey my commandments, the problems is how can you obey the commandments if you have not read them. I used to read books in a time. I always used to struggle reading the bible and someone prayed for me before to actually read the bible and somehow god managed it.
I dont know how I changed with the language thing I thought how the language and swearing of the day is terrible and as I was working in a terrbile kind of workplace I did not want to be effected by them so I read my bible so that my language effected them rather than my language degrading them as I gave up television .
Jesus say I am the word and that brings a whole new facet.
Then I started reading every single version under neith the sun. I wanted something that was expresisve so I started reading the amplified because I was getting through the KJV to quickly and needed something to slow me down and take it in. I still had the same problem, My old friend Jim has been an inspiration , he used to get all the old bibles from all the charity shops as they were cheap and give them away it has been something that I always want to do. my friend jim also introduced me to the alexander scourby version of the bible and I spent about a year trying to get the old testament for him as it wasnt sold in this country, i also bought the NKJV on Cd. My baptism bible was a NKJV, My school bible was a NIV , My first read bible was a childrens bible. It has been the whole way through my life I cannot get enough of it. Yet at the moment I am struggling to read the bible I think there was one time when I had just got healed I just read the whole five books of the torah because in sunday school they missed out the bit between the promise land and the ten commandments and I did not know what was inbetween. I wish I could remember every single argument I came up with to actually disanull the bibles relevancey
In turn I ended up proving the bible is not only relevant for every decade but even the future ones and as the bible points to Jesus , he is the one that the bible talks about and as I want to know as much about him as possible and he is the only person that can get me out of the messes I get myself into that is why I read it to know more of Jesus.
Pray for me that I will read my bible and that I want to learn hebrew and greek so I can nail down my thoughts because I find that the bible is very useful for putting things into perspective and I love languages even thou I use to hate them god bless
Dom

There was other things like the nation of Israel if the nation of Israel exists the the god of the nation of Israel has got to exist and there is still ruins from the time of Moses around since they destroyed some of the ancient tribes all thatg time ago.

Hia Dom,
I enjoyed reading your description of how you've traveled through the Word and have come to love and absorb it and what growth and benefit it's been to you. I always want to Capitilise the "i" when I refer to the Bible as an "it".

Maybe I shall. We capitalize Bible, so why not It. Yeah, I think I like that.
Not saying It is God Himself, but I just feel that respect that we even give our own name. All our names are Capitalized and Towns, cities, countries, etc. :-)

Anyhow, whenever I'd feel dry, I'd take a Bible I didn't mind marking up, and slowly read Psalm 119 and put my thoughts in the margins, or connect the repeats of sentences and recurrent themes, etc.
I got really blessed doing that and it really increased my appetite for MORE.

Also, playing around with the e-sword gets me really going for hours sometimes. Ha. I'm so thrilled with it and it was FREE.
There's another free one called the "Online Bible", and it comes with some good books, but I still go back to the e-sword. Do you have the e-sword in your computer. The books you can put into it are Endless. www.e-sword.net

We 'should' be loving His Word as we Love Him.
We should get a twinkle in our eye and a flutter in our hearts when we think about it ... no, It.
That was why I enjoyed your writing. I could see that twinkle too. :-D

You've chosen the good path and your testimony as you are growing and posting here can be a real inspiration to many and as we run to "finish the race" .... that will be the best part.

Keeping our eyes on Eternity.

God Bless you brother Dom, and thank you for exalting His Word. Psalm 119
Love.

 Re:Another Idea.

During this week I've been thinking of something else to post to you, because I kept thinking of something called "Chapter Charts".

They do this in some Bible Colleges, to get the students into each book of the Bible. It's Really neat.

You take one Chapter at a time and split it as you are reading it, into what is being said, in each however many verses. And then when you're done, each chapter is split into subtitles and then when you're all done subtitling within the chapter ... you title the chapter itself.

Back when, we had to do it with pen and paper... but I was thinking how plum easy it would be to "copy into study notes" with the e-sword, a whole chapter at a time, of say "Galatians" and then do this right there in your e-sword Study Notes. And at the same time, if you get stumped by the meaning of a verse, you've got 15 or more Commentaries to turn to for opinions on it and even Word Studies with the languages.... it's endless what you can do with that thing.

I can't imagine what they do in those Bible Colleges now ... seems like we had to work so hard to get anything done, before Computers.
Had to take all our books to the Library and spread them across these big tables just to do a word studies or whatever.
That is, if one of the big tables was available. Ha.

If this stuff is kept up, you only get more and more hungry for more :-? :-D ... but the computer breaks down before we or the e-sword or whatever other program you use does. Ha.

God Bless you today Dom . :-)

 Re:

I have always thought that the bible normally answers other questions in the bible
I am a bookaloholic, the thing that I love about the internet is that you can get any book on any subject

Jas 1:17 - Show Context
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

I would find it hard titling because I am not that way enclined.

 Re:

That's fine Dom.

Your first sentence is Truth.

Scripture interprets Scripture in the end !
