 The Shepherd of Hermas

Has anyone here read or studied THE SHEPHERD OF HERMAS?

It seems to be heralded as the "Pilgrim's Progress" of the 2nd century, given in allegory.

It was even included in an early edition of the New Testament (the Codex Sinaiticus.)

Your collective input is appreciated!

-Chris

 Re: The Shepherd of Hermas

Hi Chris,

Yes I have read of the Early Church's view of Hermas' writings----how revered they were, as from God. Concerning your statement on the Codex Sinaiticus, could you send me to a website or such where this is verified.....I am very interested in this. Thanks. Blessings in Him, Cindy

 Re:

Tertullian rejected the Shepherd as 'apocryphal and false'. There seems to have been quite a bit of opposition to it. Its inclusion in the Sinaiticus may be seen by some, not as a testimony to the acceptance of the Shepherd, but as a further cause of doubt as the the 'orthodoxy' of the Sinaiticus.

I burned a copy of this the other day and I agree with Mr.T, "goofy and false" is how I describe it! What a waste of printer ink...
